Today’s Topic: Bookish Scenarios Tag
Found At: A Book Lover’s Playlist
1. You have to get rid of all your books and you can only keep one from each of these genres – contemporary, fantasy, non-fiction and one other genre of your choosing. What books do you keep?
- Contemporary: Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – I’d be lost without this book!
- Fantasy: Saga by Brian K. Vaughn – It’s my favorite fantasy/sci-fi graphic novel series of all time!
- Non-fiction: Is Everyone Hanging Out With Me? by Mindy Kaling – This book is hilarious. 🙂
- Historical: Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin Series #1) by Robin La Fevre – Such a well-written and entertaining YA historical fiction series.
2. You’re at the bookstore and you hear a teenager telling their mom they don’t like to read, but their mom insists they pick something. You walk over and recommend a book you think is great for people who aren’t big on reading – what book is it?
I choose Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova. It’s entertaining, has fun elements of fantasy and folklore, easy to follow, and it has some relatable coming of age themes.
3. You’re not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which book do you read to put yourself in a great mood?
Something light and easygoing such as Lumberjanes by Noelle Stevenson. It’s a great series that is sure to make you laugh.
4. You go back in time for a day to your teenage years. What book would you most likely have caught yourself reading?
I was super into the Vampire Kisses series by Ellen Schrieber as a teen. It was that period of my life when I started reading more paranormal genre books.
5. Your friend surprises you with a 4 day trip and you have 1 hour to pack. Which book do you bring to read on the way?
I don’t have a specific book for this answer. When it comes to trips, I usually just pick any book off of my TBR pile or bookshelf to read.
6. Your house has been robbed! Don’t worry – everyone is safe, but your bookshelf has been raided. What’s the book you really hope is safe?
Any of my childhood books, to be honest. They’re not worth much, but they hold a lot of sentimental value for me.
7. Your friend borrows a book and returns it in awful condition. Do you a) Just pretend you haven’t noticed b) Ask them to repurchase it or c) Secretly do the same to something of theirs
In this situation, I would choose option “b”. I don’t really have this issue when lending books to close friends/family. If they ruin a book, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue for them to repurchase. If the situation was reversed I would buy that person a new copy.
