May – August Book Haul: “New & Exciting Reads” Edition

Hello everyone!

Back with another quarterly book haul! Since I don’t buy books as much anymore I think I’ll keep doing book haul like this in the future. Beside the recent blazing hot weather of this summer, I hope this season has been kind to your TBR piles! I’ve been busy with work lately and traveling a bit, so I haven’t been able to read as much.

I’m slowly trying to get back on track with my Goodreads goal as well as blogging. I’m in the midst of a couple of books so I hope to have more review up soon. As you’ll see below I’ve read some amazing book over the past few months and I’ve got some cool upcoming reviews as well!

Anyways, on with the book haul!

Bought

Love! Love! Fighting Vol. 1-3 by Sharean Morishita – I’m so behind on reviews, but I plan to have this one up soon! I loved the story and how it was not only about romance, but also explored themes of self-love.

ARCs/Review Requests

Dawn Among The Stars by Samantha Heuwagen – I was looking for a Sci-fi adventure and this one delivered! It was fast paced and action packed.

River of Stars by Vanessa Hua – A splendid debut novel! I loved the rich culture and how the book delved into themes of immigration and motherhood.

Fresh Ink by Various Authors – I’m starting to get more into short story collections and I loved the variety of stories in this novel. I love how it touched on heavier topics.

The Soldier Prince by Aarti V Raman – A different kind of romance read for me. I’m not a big fan of romantic suspense, but this one pulled me in.

Every Watering Word by Tanya Manning Yarde – Each poem is written in a very lyrical style and some of them felt so raw, personal, and even emotional. I felt them grab at my heartstrings and I appreciated that each poem had its own story.

500 Words or Less by Juleah Del Rosario – I look forward to reading this one! Review is up in September! The story follows a high school senior attempts to salvage her reputation among her Ivy League–obsessed classmates by writing their college admissions essays and in the process learns big truths about herself.

Class of Hope and Change by Deji Komolafe – Review will be up in Sept! This book is an intra-generational conversation among millennials who bring a variety of life experiences and cultural perspectives to discussions about a wide range of timely and timeless subjects.

The Royal Runaway by Lindsay Emory – The cover is giving me serious Princess Diaries vibes. Review will be up in Sept! This book follows the story of  a modern-day princess who teams up with a spy to find out what happened to the fiancé who left her at the altar.

Unreasonable Doubts by Reyna Marder Gentin – Review will be up in November. This one is a thriller with a bit of suspense!

That concludes my May through August book haul! What books did you buy this past month? What books have you recently added to your TBR? Tell me in the comment section below.:)

  1. Ha ha I bought a ridiculous number of books this month. Let’s never speak of it. I went to like five bookstores over the course of a week, which was TOO MANY OF A NUMBER.

I’m reading River of Stars right now! And enjoying it a lot — it’s like an immigrant Horatio Alger book! (Unless Horatio Alger’s protagonists were immigrants? I’ve never read one.)

    1. Even time I pass by a bookstore I’m so tempted to buy a crap ton of books, but somehow I restrain myself. I think when I get a new bookshelf and see how much shelf/floor space I have, I can buy more books.

  2. Lovely haul! I also hadn’t been buying many books this year, and was utilizing my library more and more. That was until August rolled around and I discovered Book Outlet. Let’s just say I purchased more books in August than I did in January through July…
