Slice of Life: Spooky Season Wrap-Up 2022

The Halloween season is over which means I’m already transitioning over into Christmas mode. I did manage to get out more this Halloween season and check out some local events this year! Though it’s been a particularly warm Autumn season, I’m glad it didn’t rain when I did go to these events and that we’ve been having good crisp Autumn weather. Here are some of my highlights of Halloween/Autumn Season 2022 and how I celebrated throughout the season.

Blake’s Apple Orchard & Cider Mill

Blake’s Cider Mill is kind of a Michigander tradition of sorts. Michigan has about 50 varieties of apples alone, as it’s one of our main produce plus it’s practically a state fruit. I got to go on a workplace outing which included a tour of the hard cider brewery, lunch, and apple picking! It was my first time picking apples which was so much fun! There is such a difference in taste for the apples when it comes straight from the orchard. Going to the cider mill is one of my favorite Autumnal activities.

Haunted Tavern Cocktail Pop-Up Experience

This was a cool pop-up event I got to cover for Fandom Spotlite. It was an exciting event with an intimate setting that featured four delicious and spooky-themed cocktails and scary stories. The storytellers really pulled the audience into each story and the cocktails were so delicious!

Haunted Garage Sale

I missed out on this garage sale last Halloween season so when my friend mentioned it to me this year, I knew I had to go. I’m so glad I got to attend this garage sale! The room was filmed to the brim with Halloween decor, vintage pieces, apparel, and all things spooky. I wanted to buy so many items, but I ended up picking up a Goosebumps shirt and vintage Halloween decor along with stationery. Definitely a must-visit local sale for Halloween lovers.

Huckleberry Railroad & Crossroads Village

I haven’t been to Huckleberry Railroad & Crossroads Village in forever, so visiting during the Halloween season was a whole new experience for me. It’s a historical village park similar to Greenfield Village in Dearborn with a train, vintage amusement rides, and many historical building replicas. The park went all out for its decorations for this event and trick-or-treating along the trails was fun too. My favorite part? The train ride! It was very relaxing.

Halloween Classics Candlelight Concert

I’ve mentioned attending a previous Candlelight Concert from Fever so I knew I wanted to attend their Halloween musical experience. This is yet another event I got to cover for Fandom Spotlite. Everyone was dressed to impress in spooky attire along with the musicians for the evening. The candlelight added a cozy, yet eerie ambiance to the concert theme. They played a great variety of music from Horror films tunes to pop favorites such as Thriller.

Franklin Cider Mill

As I expressed earlier in my post, cider mills are my jam during the Autumn season! Franklin Cider Mill is older and much small than Blake’s but it still holds a special town. It’s a quaint and cozy cider mill that is reminiscent of an Autumn Hallmark movie. As usual, I bought some cider and donuts and walked around the mill to take in the beautiful Autumn foliage.
