My Favorite Things: June

My Favorite Things is a monthly segment where I share my personal and current favorites in seasonal products, health & beauty, food, decor, movies, TV, and more. I hope you enjoy these personal picks!

TV

Marry My Husband

Kang Ji-won, a terminally ill cancer patient, is killed by her husband and best friend after she witnesses them having an affair. She wakes up 10 years before the incident and decides to seek revenge with the help of Yu Ji-hyuk, a director at the company where she works. Now, she must reclaim her fate and eliminate the trash from her life.

Now that they hype has finally died down around this show, I feel I can watch it. It also helps that all the episodes are released so that I can take my time and enjoy it without weekly spoilers being online. It’s a K-Drama based on a webtoon that I haven’t gotten a chance to read yet. I love the elements of time-travel and the race against the clock for Ji-won to change her life for the better the second time around. The acting is so good I was immediately engrossed from the first episode. I’m curious to see how this drama will play out.

Why Thrifing Sucks Now

This video is a good dicsussion about the decline in quallity thrifting and second-hand shopping. I’ve also noticed the rise in prices as well for the sub-par finds I’ve been discovering. This video essay about fashion and consumerism is definitely food for thought.

The Nostalgification of Pop Music

This is a deep dive/video essay about the music industry relying on nostalgia to bait listeners as well as how it ties into commercial artists success on the chart. While I definitely don’t mind the use of samples on a song, I think they way they are being used has become lazy and doesn’t bring anything to original songit comes from.

Music

Cake by Itzy

Itzy is a K-Pop group that I feel gets a lot of unwarrented hate, but their songs always promise a good time and some catchy lyrics. Hence the reason I’ve been singing Cake on repeat for the last couple of months. The MV matches the vibrant tone of the song and I love to dance along with the choreography.

Shower Song by Tierra Whack

An actually shower song! I love Tierra’s music so much since I discovered her a few years ago. It’s unique, kitchy, and sometimes weird (in the best of ways). I feel this track is great for motvating yourself during a morning routine and it puts a pep in your step.

At Least I Had Fun by Martin Jensen, RANI

This electro pop song is the perfect song for the summer! I love how the music makes you feel carefree and lighthearted. I usually play this song when I need a upbeat song for crusing in my car.
