What I’m Listening To…Holiday Jazz
Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In this blog post series, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist of five songs.
This month’s edition of “What I’m Listening To” will supply you with some tunes for the holidays! This month I’m sharing some Christmas Jazz songs that I enjoy. A few are long-time favorites and others are quite new to me. It was hard to narrow down this playlist since I have so many favorite Christmas songs, but I did my best! Enjoy the playlist!
Warm In December by Samara Joy
Samara Joy vocals are smooth and reminiscent of singers from the 40s with her musical delivery. This whole EP titled, A Joyful Holiday, is short but a gem to listen to during Christmastime. My favorite track is Warm in December which is a festive love song.
It’s Christmas by Jamie Cullum
The Pianoman at Christmas is the ninth studio album by British jazz musician Jamie Cullum which features the song It’s Christmas. Its a song with a wholesome message about getting along for the holidays and putting the bad memories behind us.
What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? by Ledisi
This is a popular song written in 1947 by Frank Loesser as an independent song and has many covered by many singers. One of my favorite renditions of this tune is this version by Ledisi which pulls on the heartstrings of the lyrics’ meaning.
Christmas Dreaming by Laufey
I’ve gushed about how much of a fan of Laufey I am on the blog before and I highly recommend her Christmas EP. Her take on this holiday classic captures the whimsical and dreamy feeling of the song’s melody. Her voice truly immerses you in the song.
Just Me This Year by Rachael & Vilray
Lake Street Dive singer/songwriter Rachael Price and the guitarist/singer/songwriter Vilray collaborated on this jazzy holiday track. This song is about the pleasures of spending the winter holidays alone after a welcome romantic breakup. The music video is so cute!
