#AMonthOfFaves: My Reading Year

amonthoffaves

It’s December and the lovely ladies at Girlxoxo, Traveling with T and Estella’s Revenge are once again hosting “A Month of Favorites” and I’ve decided to take part in it for the second year. Throughout December I’ll be participating in some of these fun topics where I’ll get to share and look back at my reading experiences from 2015. To find more info about the blog event click here!

Today’s Topic: My Reading Year

This includes the number of books you’ve read so far, genre you read the most from, picture of favorite (or most often used) reading location, most read author, % eBooks, hardcovers, paperbacks and/or audio books, hint at what your favorite read of the year is (let us guess), types of books you wish you read more of, month you read the most and least).

To help me out I’ll look at my Goodreads account to see this year’s stats. I’ll admit I’m not always efficient when using Goodreads though since I forget to update stuff constantly. As back-ups I also utilize sites like The Reading Room and Riffle.

Books Read:

70 out of my challenge of 80 books. But I forgot to add some books over the year so I think I’ve actually read about 90.

Star Ratings:

  • 6 = 5 star books
  • 43 = 4 star books
  • 18 = 3 star books
  • 2 = 2 star books

Pages Read: 21, 143

Longest Book: Voyager by Diana Gabaldon at 870 pages.

My Fave Genre: A tie between YA & Fantasy

Hardcover/Paperback/E-book/Audio:

  • 1% = Hardcover
  • 10% = E-book
  • 0% = Audio book
  • 89% = Paperback

Fave book of the year?:

This was is always tough since I read lots of great books each year, but I’ll have to go with The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler. I highly recommend it if you haven’t read it yet. 🙂

Other likes:

Types of books you wish you read more of: Historical fiction. I love this genre and I wished I had read more of it as well as translated/multicultural works. I’ve been buying more global and diverse books, but they’re still sitting on my bookshelves.

Months I read the most: June – August (Summertime!)

Month I read the least: I can’t exactly remember, but I think November and sometime way earlier in the year like January?

*********

That concludes compilation of my reading year of 2015. The year hasn’t completely ended just yet, so who knows what changes may occur! Keep your eyes peeled for more “A Month of Favorites” posts!

  1. Rachel, it sounds like you’ve had a great reading year! Historical fiction seems to have really grown in popularity in recent years and the selection is much more interesting than it used to be; I never thought I would enjoy it, but I’ve found several that I really love.

  2. July was the month I read the most books.

The most books I ever read was in 2012 – 72. Don’t think I kept a tally earlier than 2011.

Does anyone know why I don’t show a challenge for 2014 on my Goodreads Page?

Great challenge. Glad you are almost there with your 2015 challenge.

Difficult to choose a FAVORITE book for me.

ENJOY the rest of your week.

    1. Summer months always seem the best for getting lots of reading done. 🙂 As for your Goodreads, maybe there’s a glitch? I’ve had problems with my own account too. And yes, it’s always hard to choose just ONE favorite book! I hope you have a great week as well!
