Today’s Topic: 2016 New Year’s Resolution Book Tag!
Created By: MaliaMarie
1) Losing Weight: Books that you would like to toss of your shelf this coming year.
Nothing in particular, but mainly bargain books that I’ve bought in the past year or so. I’m trying to clean out a lot of my standalone novels, so I can properly clean-up and organize my bookshelves to my liking.
2) Learning Something New: Pick a book in a genre you wouldn’t normally read.
For this one, I’ll pick a YA contemporary novel. I didn’t used to like a lot of contemporary books and now I’m open to reading that genre. I want to read Stephanie Perkins books since I’ve heard a lot of good things about them.
3) Getting Out of Debt: Give a shout out to your favorite discount book store!
I really want to pick an online store, but I’m gonna give a local shout out to a nearby book store called “Second Story”. I’ve been going there as a kid and have always picked up a good book at a reasonable price. That store will always hold a special place in my heart.
4) Quit Smoking: A Book or series that is not that great, but you can’t seem to put down.
I can’t that I’ve kept reading something that is not great, because life is too short to be wasted on books I can’t enjoy. I will say that I read a lot of Harlequin books with super predictable plots, but I just can’t bear to stop reading them.
5) Eliminating Stress: A Book or series that helps you calm down.
It would have to be any light-hearted or humorous book. Something like Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. The romance in the book was so sweet and it left my heart feeling all warm and fuzzy.
6) Traveling: A Book that takes place in a different place or time period.
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon! I’ve been a Highlander-esque novel kick ever since I read that book last year.
7) Spending More Time With Family & Friends: A Book that someone recommended to you.
Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I’ve had two of my friends recommend me this book, and I am definitely gonna read in 2016! My friend gave me a copy of the novel, so I have no excuse to read the book now.
8) Drinking Less: A Book or series that impairs your judgement (also known as an overload of feels).
There a lot of series that are like that for me, but I’ll chose the Chicagoland vampire books which I’ve gushed about many times before on this blog. The plot, action, writing, characters, and drama are all elements that make each book in the series such an entertaining read!
9) Exercising: What is your Reading Challenge for the new year?
You can see the challenges I’m participating in for 2016 here. Overall, I want to continue to diversify my reading, try out books by authors that are new to me, expose myself to more translated/multicultural works, and to read a book from at least one genre that is unfamiliar to me.
10) Volunteering: Tag some people.
Everyone who reads this blog is tagged! Create your own post on your own blog and link back to me so I can see your answers or feel free to comment in the section below.
