Today’s Topic: Courtship Book Tag
Found At: Addicted to YA
Phase 1 – Initial Attraction: A book that you bought because of the cover
Well I didn’t buy this book just on the cover alone, but it’s cover art is primarily what drew me into the story. I love the blend of colors and how city image is portrayed like a message in a bottle. I knew the book would be about travel based on the imagery, and I love stories about traveling.
Phase 2 – First Impressions: A book that you got because of the summary
I did pick up the book because the colored font caught my eye, but the story synopsis is what ultimately made me buy it.The story follows three very different people after they are tied together by a specific event. I’m really enjoying the book so far.
Phase 3 – Sweet Talk: A book with great writing
I think that ever since I was exposed to Danticat in college, I fell in love with her writing. This book of stories has such powerful prose and Danticat’s words are lyrical.
Phase 4 – First Date: A first book of a series which made you want to pursue the rest of the series
This is a recent read I fell in love with. The plot was exciting, the adventure was dangerous, and I felt that the characters were well developed.
Phase 5 – Late night phone calls: A book that kept you up all night long
Bertrice Small writes some amazing historical fiction/romance and this book is one of them. I found myself learning more about Scotland’s history as I was emerged in its past and the main character, Maggie, is courageous and admirable.
Phase 6 – Always on my mind: A book that you could not stop thinking about
I just finished this book recently as well and I the story was so good. The whole “immortals” plot has been done many times before in YA fiction, but I felt like Tiernan reinvents that trope by putting a different spin on it. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series too!
Phase 7 – Getting Physical: A book in which you love the way it feels
The cover for this book feels like smooth scales of a dragon. Okay, I’ve never touched a dragon so that statement might be not 100% accurate, but you get the gist of it. Basically, it’s a really awesome cover.
Phase 8 – Meeting the Parents: A book in which you would recommend to your friends and family
This choice was really hard to make because a small percentage of my friends and family are avid readers. I picked this book because I enjoyed it so much in school and because it’s easy to read. You can also take away a lot of important messages from this book.
Phase 9 – Thinking about the future: A book or series that you know you’ll re-read many times in the future
Vampire Academy will always hold a place as one of my top favorite series in my heart. It’s one of the few vampire series, for me, that doesn’t end up being totally cliche and the I love all of the characters, good and bad!
Phase 10 – Share the love!!! Who would you like to tag?
Anyone who would like to participate in this tag! 🙂
