Book Movie Discussions: Catching Fire, Divergent, City of Bones, Vampire Academy
Hi everyone!! So after reeling in my sadness of not being able to attend the awesomeness that is Comic Con. Not being able to meet the casts, buy tons of stuff, go to awesome panels for Doctor Who, Supernatural, Walking Dead, Hunger Games (and all of the many other fandoms I’m a part of).
I’ve accepted the fact and have recovered. There was tons of action going on in the book universe (not only at Comic Con, but in trending topics as well) so I wanted to talk about all the new happenings!
Catching Fire:
Woot! So the newest second trailer was released for Catching Fire aka The Hunger Games sequel! The newest trailer game me goosebumps! I honestly feel like this movie will be even better than the first. Catching Fire was my favorite out of the entire trilogy, I felt the story and action were the strongest in that novel. I think the director/producers/movie people have a definite grasp of what they’re doing this time. The action is more intense, the acting/portrayal of the characters is better, and visuals look amazing. The first movie wasn’t bad, but they had to explain the story for people who hadn’t previously read the book, and sometimes I felt that took away from the movie. As I stated before in my book vs.movie review of “The Hunger Games” Jennifer Lawrence makes an awesome Katniss!
Divergent:
Divergent! So I can’t believe I am only hearing about this book now when the movie is coming out! Where have I been? I’m probably gonna read this very soon! I’ve heard so many good things about this book! I think Shaliene Woodley is a good actress, so this movie should be pretty good. I will have more to talk about after I read the book…so stay tuned….
Mortal Instruments (City of Bones):
Super excited about this book as well. I just finished “City of Bones” about a month ago (yes, I know I’m behind). Anyways the book was amazing! And the movie looks fantastic as well. The trailers that have been released so far look so good. And from what I can see so far the characters were casted well, their following the story line closely, and the visuals/action is cool. I know I’ll be really nit picky with this movie (as I’ve done with other movies made from books). I hope they get the details right. Now, correct me if I’m wrong isn’t Clary’s hair supposed to be a bright red? I might be wrong…anyway…I’m still pumped up.
Vampire Academy:
Words cannot describe how excited I am for this movie. I am a big fan of VA. I’ve read all the books (Still have yet to read the Bloodlines series) and I even got meet the amazing, Richelle Mead (author) in person!!! I love these books with all my heart. I’ve been following the posts on Richelle Mead’s blog and well as the official movie Facebook page checking all the behind the scene action (I’ll be damned if they don’t do this movie justice). The cast, even though their unknown actors (to me) look like good picks and, I love all the detail and extra work their putting into the move to make it come to life. Thanks cast and crew! No trailer yet…but I’ll be waiting!
In the meantime I’ll be fangirling as the movie release dates come closer and closer!!!

Hi Rachel! I’m really excited for Catching Fire mostly, I saw the Hunger Games and then read the book. I think that’s what I’m going to do this time as well, I like to be surprised with the movie first :). I love Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss! I haven’t read the Vampire Academy series but I like vampires so.. I’m excited for that too!
Yeah you should definitely read Vampire Academy before the movie comes out! That series is amazing! Catching Fore looks 10x better than the first movie, but that probably because I’m biased and it’s my favorite book out of the trilogy.I think you might like City of Bones it’s a good read. 🙂
