Review:
Biko the Thief is a fun, fast paced Sci-Fi novella that will take readers on an adventure to galaxies far, far away. Set in a futuristic world, people are migrating to new surrounds outside earth. One scientist decides to create a Black utopia and sets off on a forty year journey in a spaceship called the Biko. Everything goes as planned until Lindewe, the thief tries to rob the ship and profit from the passengers wealth.
This story went in new directions that I did not expect to happen as I was reading. I like how Greene, the author, planted twists and turns to keep the reader engaged with the ships journey. The setting of the spaceship was immersive and I appreciated the detail to the setting and how the robots and characters develop over the course of the story.
For a person that loves Sci-Fi and all things Star Trek I liked the elements of the story that reminded me of other pop culture media set in space. It was richly diverse and it showed a different take on other stories I’ve read in the Sci-Fi genre. There are many exciting action packed scenes as well. I enjoy Lindewe’s character a lot. She’s witty, fun, and courageous. Though she’s a thief you could kind of sympathize with her because of her isolation and trying to find a sense of normalcy while everyone else is in sleep pods.
I highly recommend this space adventure that is entertaining, action-packed, and comedic too!
