Today’s Topic: Cake Flavored Book Tag
Found At: Paper Fury
1. Chocolate Cake: a dark book you absolutely love
I can’t think of any. 🙁
2. Vanilla Cake: a light read
Goldie Vance by Hope Larson is fun, light graphic novel series about a young detective name Goldie who loves to solve mysteries. She’s clever and always has the help of her friends. What I enjoyed most about this graphic novel is that it’s a newer version of Nancy Drew mysteries with a more diverse cast.
3. Red Velvet: a book that gave you mixed emotions
Insert Groom Here by K.M. Jackson was a cute romance with a few sexy moments. I enjoyed the book throughly, but I just felt like something was missing from the story. I wish it was less predictable.
4. Cheesecake: a book you would recommend to anyone
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas is such an incredibly powerful read that everyone should read. It’s difficult to digest at certain points of the story, but it’s very timely and discusses a lot of important issues happening within our society.
5. Coffee Cake: a book you started but never finished
Kindred by Octavia Butler. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy the book, but when I initially read it was library copy and I couldn’t renew the book. Now that I own it, I’m free to read it at my leisure.
6. Carrot Cake: a book with great writing
Like Vanessa by Tami Charles is a wonderful middle grade book about following your dreams and body positivity. I loved Charles’ lyrical writing style and there is poetry verses laced throughout the book making it lyrical. Definitely recommend.
7. Tiramisu: book that left you wanting more
Every volume I read of Bride of the Water God leaves me wanting more. It’s one of my newer favorite manhwa series. I love the overall fairy tale like artwork and the story line.
8. Cupcakes: series with 4+ books
The Bloodhound Files by D.D. Barant are a great pick if you love paranormal fantasy books. The main character is a P.I. who gets stuck in an alternate universe where vampires, werewolves, etc exist. It’s interesting to she how she adapts to the new environment and it’s filled with action-packed scenes.
9. Fruit Cake: book that wasn’t what you anticipated
A Small Charred Face by Kazuki Sakuraba. I knew it would be a different type of vampire story, but I was unsure of how the author would put a spin on the trope. It was a lot calmer than most vampire novels, and I liked the way the multiple povs were written.

Ooohhh!!! 😀 I’m so doing this one.
I think when you complete THe Devourers, you’ll have a dark book to add. I have a feeling it’s gonna be dark.
I have that feeling too. I know I’ve read a lot of dark books but my mind went blank at the moment.
