Today’s Topic: Christmas Movies Book Tag

Created By: Katie Loves to Read

Elf: A book which made you laugh out loud

This story is humorous and very goofy. It’s so “out of this world” and it’s not meant to be taken too seriously, which is why Liked the story so much. It follows woman who meets two aliens who desire to be pop stars on a David Bowie level. As you can imagine, craziness ensues and that just adds to the entertainment factor of this book.

Arthur Christmas: A middle grade/ ya book that you think adults would love or could learn from

The message is simple, but powerful in this book. What stood out to me about this novel was its theme of gratitude. We often take many things for granted in our everyday life and this book reminded me to appreciate the little things in life. It showed me that even something as simple as a red pencil could open up one’s worldview.

White Christmas: A classic book that you think everyone needs to read

This book stood out to me since the story line and characters were so far out to me when I read in school. I think this novel might have been my first experience with a Utopian style setting. I give my props to Huxley for creating this new and strange world full of technologies and social oddities that are way outside of the norm (to us readers). I thought the commentary on technology was intriguing.

Love Actually: A book with a huge cast of characters

I love Outlander, but it’s probably one of the largest books I’ve read in a long time. Every time I read a new book in this series I have to take notes since Gabaldon’s writing is greatly detailed. If I don’t I often have trouble remembering characters as they pop-up in later novels.

The Grinch: A book with a great villain

The main character Leah’s uncle is so ruthless and determined to harness her powers to detect gold and become rich is intense. If it’s not her uncle, then one of his henchmen are always on Leah’s trail and they do anything get their way. Even by the third book I was surprised that they couldn’t shake off the villains.

It’s a Wonderful Life: A book which really made you think about life

This book helped me to reflect on my life even though it’s about Rhimes’ own personal experiences. I looked back on past opportunities that I missed because I was too afraid to try something new. After reading this book, I’ve saying “yes” to more experiences so that I continue to grow as a person.

The Polar Express: A book where the character(s) go(es) on an adventure

Juniper Leaves follows the story of a young teenage black girl who embarks on a magical adventure. This was a fun fantasy read! Joyner does a great job of world building and creating a lush fantasy world full of strange creatures and beautiful landscapes. The fantasy world in this book reminded me of Narnia.

The Snowman: Chose a book with a festive cover (snow, ornaments, blues, reds, greens etc)

The cover design is simple, but I love the blend of colors and the holly & berry trim on outsides!

Bonus Question: What’s your favorite Christmas/ holiday movie?

Home Alone will always have a special place in my heart.
