Actions speak louder than words. A book that wasn’t or couldn’t be better than the movie.
The Devil Wears Prada movie was a 1000x better than the book. Even though the plots differ a bit I thought the movie was much more entertaining. The book was a bit slow-paced and dry.
The grass is always green on the other side. A rags to riches…or riches to rags story.
This book is not entirely a rags to riches story, but the theme is in the subplot as the main character wants a better life for her family. However, when she gets exposed to the Royal Palace’s dark secrets, she starts to have second thoughts.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. A parent-child relationship you loved.
I loved the theme of family in this novel and there were so many tender moments that were heartwarming to me. It teaches important lessons about about love, acceptance and what truly makes a family.
You can’t judge a book by its cover. A great book that NEEDS a better cover.
The Walled City has such pretty typography on the cover, but I just think it needs a more striking background for the cover art.
You can’t please everyone. A book you hate/love that everyone loves/hates.
A manga that seemed so cute, yet turned out to be a bit too predictable and the characters felt flat. I don’t know if I actually hate/love this series though.
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. A book you are a better person for having read.
A powerful book that deals with some timely issues happening in our society! I loved it so much, but at times it was so difficult to read due to things that happen within the story.
Love is blind. A book with a disabled character OR actual blind love.
The story follows Izzy who is a bit of a romantic she has lost everything, but has managed to inherited a castle where she meets Ransom who is blind. Regency romances aren’t usually my jam but I enjoyed the rom-com feel of this book.
Ignorance is bliss. A book you know is bad but don’t want to admit it or a book you don’t want to read in case it’s bad.
This is a novel that has been on my TBR for years and when I finally read it it was far from what I expected. I felt it was a bit underwhelming because the plot was a bit confusing. Wasn’t bad, just a meh book for me.
There is no time like the present. Your favorite contemporary book.
One of favorite reads of 2020! The book is very easy to digest and like the title suggests, it reads just like a intimate conversation that you would have with someone you know. A fantastic memoir!
Better safe than sorry. A book you don’t want to read in case it’s bad or vice versa!
I loved the Twilight series back in middle/school so much. I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about this book, but I’m scared to read since I don’t know if it will be good or not.
