Today’s Topic: Get to Know the Romance Reader
Found At: Falling For Romance
As you all know I love to read romance, as I quite frequently do Romance reviews on the blog. So I decided to do this tag!
What is your romance origin story? (How you came to read your first romance novel):
I think I was first exposed to the romance genre in my teens. I used to read a lot of Teen Romance or YA Paranormal romance. But in high school I started to read the genre more. Can’t remember which authors I started out reading though.
If you could be the heroine in a romance novel, who would be the author and what’s one trope you’d insist be in the story?
Alyssa Cole! I love her writing and her stories are always so entertaining. I love a good enemies-to-lovers or fake relationship trope to be in the story.
What is a romance you’ve read this year, that you want more people to read?
Dear Dwayne, With Love by Eliza Gordon. It’s hilarious, romantic, motivating, and real. The story follows a woman named Dani who’s obsession with The Rock and all thing related to him propels her on a journey to athletic obstacle course and to re-boost her career.
What is your favorite romance subgenre? What subgenre have you not read much from?
Its a tie-between Fantasy/Paranormal and Contemporary Romance. I don’t read Western romances much, but if anyone has suggestions I’ll take some recommendations.
Who is one of your auto-buy romance authors?
Tracey Livesay! I love that her novels are own voices and the characters are POC/diverse! Some of them follow typical romance tropes, but she makes the story into her own.
How do you typically find romance recommendations? (Goodreads, Youtube, Podcasts, Instagram..)
I would say mostly Podcasts, Instagram, and Youtube. I have found so many good books from bloggers recommendations.
What is an upcoming romance release you’re excited for?
For this one I’ll pick a 2020 release! The Honey-Don’t List by Christina Lauren.
What is one misconception about romance you would like to lay to rest?
That it’s complete fluff. I have read so many romance issues that discuss real and hard-hitting issues.
Who is the most recent romance reading content creator you came across that you’d like to shoutout?
I just started following Suzanne at UTC Book Blog Instagram and Lisa at RemarkablyLisa‘s Instagram and they both have fantastic feeds that is sure to add new books to your TBR.
If someone had never read a romance before and asked you to recommend the first 3 romances that come to mind as places to start, what would those recommendations be?
