Book Tag Thursday: Library Lovers Book Tag
As always for this segment, I will find awesome book tags throughout the vast, wide inter-webs and complete mini-challenges. I’ll hope you’ll have fun and participate with me as well!
Today’s Topic: Library Lovers Book Tag

Since this past week was National Library Week (April 4th-10th) in the US, I thought it would be fun to do a library-themed tag this week to celebrate!
How often do you visit your local library?
Before Covid hit, I used to go to the library at least once a week or every other week. It’s been pretty much the same schedule for me since I was a kid.
Are you the type of person who checks out more books than you know you can read or are you someone who only checks out the exact amount of books you intend on reading before they are due?
I always check out more books than I can read. It’s been a lifelong habit for me. Even when my schedule is extremely busy I’ll still check out a stack of books that is way too big for me. When I worked at the local library I almost always checked out a new book at the end of my shift.
How old were you when you got your first library card?
I don’t remember what age it was exactly, but maybe it was right before I started elementary school? I used to get so upset that the library I went to at that time would only let me check out 10 books at a time. My mom would usually take me and I would have time to read in the kid’s section while she looked for her own books.
Do you go to your library looking for a particular book or do you check out anything that peaks your interest?
It’s a little of both of these. I usually have some books that I’m looking for, but if I see a cover that catches my eye I’ll pick it up and add it to my stack of check-outs. I usually look at the new releases first and then browse through older titles to find a book that’s new to me.
Do you use your library to check out just books or do you also check out dvds, audiobooks etc.?
I check out books the most, but usually, I’ll check out DVDs and other media materials. Audiobooks not so much, but now that I’ve gotten back into them I’ll browse through the audiobook section the next time I’ll visit.
From what section of your library do you check out a majority of your books? ( YA, middle grade, adult, nonfiction.)
For me, it’s a mixture of YA and adult books. Those are probably the top two sections I go to check out books. If I had to pick a third section it would be comics/graphic novels. I like to try new series and read them there first before I consider buying them for my personal manga collection.
What is your favorite part of using your local library?
Being able to find so many new books I wouldn’t necessarily find while shopping at a book store and having a wide access to so many resources. Libraries are such a staple for the community!

We are library twins! Except that there are times when I’ve been lucky enough to live very close to the library (2 or 3 blocks) and have visited more often. When I first moved to Toronto, the library was situated perfectly between our apartment and the subway station, so I could stop nearly every night on my way home from work. It was awesome. And I had a million duedates and impossibly large stacks. Wonderful problems to have.
I live closer to my local library now than previously. But living two or three blocks away sounds like so much fun and good accessibility for frequent library visits. When I worked at the library it was so hard for me not to take books home every shift.
Enjoyed the post. I recently found out that I can request books from public university libraries through my library, which will save me a lot of money on academic nonfiction. I’ve started getting DVDs more since COVID. I have a lot of Studio Ghibli films I want to watch.
Thanks, we have a system similar to yours in MI. I used to work with the statewide inter-library loan program and it was a lot of fun. It’s so cool to be able to check out books from all over the state. And yes to watching Studio Ghibli movies.
