The Sand – A book that stuck with you long after you finished reading
This was the first audio book I listened to in a long time. Because the story had such heavy content, it really stood with me. The narration style was so good! It was hard to listen to at times, but it’s an important narrative about missing Black girls/children cases in the US.
The Sun – A book that burned you
The synopsis of this book caught my eye and I was so excited to read it! However, I had trouble liking the main character and connecting to her story. Her spoiled brat nature was a big issue for me when reading this book. It was a big turn off!
The Waves – A book that calms you down after a long day
My go-to comfort reads (usually) lately have been romance novels. This novel takes an interesting look at the world of online dating with a focus on dating apps. I loved the witty banter and commentary on modern dating.
The Bathing Suit – A book with a pretty, summer-y cover
Whenever I see this cover the bright and colorful designs always catches my eyes. I immediately think of a beach vacation. This book follows and enemies to lovers trope. The fake honeymoon aspect actually becomes fun when they realize they don’t hate each other after all. And the comedic situations they get in kept me laughing out loud.
The Birds – A book that is everywhere
I actually discovered this book from all the buzz I saw on Bookstagram. The book is very easy to digest and like the title suggests, it reads just like a intimate conversation that you would have with someone you know. Jacob openly discusses race and other topics prompting a deeper conversation with her readers.
The Company – A book with wonderful characters
I’ve gotten so hooked into this series from the beginning despite the nasty villains, I love the full cast of characters featured. Everyone comes from different backgrounds and though there is conflict, they work together to try fight for Earth’s humanity.
The Ice-Cold Drinks – A book you absolutely gulped down
This is a recent read I picked for Romanceopoly. I really enjoyed it from beginning to end. I ended up “binge-reading” it because I couldn’t put it down. The best part about this book was the characters. The romance was so cute!
The Fun Memories – A book you can’t wait to return to
I’ve been trying to read more Middle Grade fiction this year and this book has been on my shelves for a while. I love stories about folklore so I liked how the novel explores Chinese folklore with many magical elements. It was a fun read!
