Solid character development and an immersive atomosphere. Especially the latter for a fantasy novel.
Hmmm…I would say fantasy worlds. Whether it’s a fascinating world in a fictional galaxy or even magical elements in a contemporary setting I am always a fan of fantasy settings.
Paperback books! Just because it takes up the least amount of shelf space and are way easier to carry.
When the main character has to overcome an obstacle in a narrative. Whether they can meet the challenge or end up losing affects the story as a whole. Each character handles the obstacles differently.
A truly unexpected plot twist! I love when they catch me off guard and it adds an extra layer entertainment for the reader.
Relatability or being able to connect to that character. Or even when the character is somewhat unlikeable but redeems themself by working to prove to themselves and others that they want to be a better person.
Amari and The Night Brothers! I loved the diversity within the novel and being able to see a Black heroine that has so much fun navigating the magic world she’s introduced to.
