Today’s Topic: Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag
Found At: A Book A Thought
What is the best book that you’ve read so far in 2020?
I’ve been reading a lot of good books this year, so this one was hard to pick. I loved Spin The Dawn to pieces. The rich lore and magical elements had me hooked into the story!
What has been your favorite sequel of the first half of the year?
I thoroughly enjoyed The Bride Test just as much as Hoang’s The Kiss Quotient. I was reunited with some of my favorite characters and I liked how this story explores some common tropes in Romance.
Is there a new release that you haven’t read yet but you’re really excited to?
I still have not been able to read any of Colbert’s novels yet, but this one caught my eye for the artwork alone. It seems like a novel I’ll enjoy. I’m hoping to get to it by the end of the year.
What is your most anticipated release for the second half of the year?
Alyssa Cole is an auto-buy author for me and when I found out she was writing a mystery/thriller novel, I was hyped. I haven’t heard too much about this novel yet, but I’m looking forward to it.
What is your biggest disappointment so far?
I was so excited for this novel because it had a really enticing plot, but I could not stand the main character! She was so selfish and spoiled. She couldn’t be redeemed in my eyes.
What is your biggest surprise so far?
This was a book that had been sitting on my shelves for a while. I picked it up for the Start on Your Shelfathon reading challenge and was pleasantly surprised! It’s got a fun blend of fantasy and historical fiction. It was not what I initially expected.
Who is your fictional crush from this year?
I actually don’t have one for this year. Sorry!
Who is your new favorite character?
The main character Elena (pictured here) was such a bad ass reporter. She gave off awesome vibes and I loved her tenacity in trying to solve the supernatural mysteries in her neighborhood.
A book that made you happy?
I needed a definite palette cleanser and so The Dragon Warrior was a great choice. This middle grade novel is high-energy, full of magical beings such as dragons, and has a lot of action-packed scenes. Plus it’s a story of self-discovery.
Your favorite book to movie/tv show that you’ve seen so far?
I actually haven’t seen any book to movie adaptations this year that I can think of.
What is the most beautiful book that you have bought?
I love how the colors pop in this design! I’m currently doing a buddy read of this novel with Zezee With Books and it’s interesting so far.
What is your favorite post that you have written so far this year?
