Today’s Topic: Must Read Books Tag!
Created By: TheBibliophile
1. Name the main ways you discover books to read. (i.e. youtubers, hype, best of lists, etc.)Show some books that you discovered this way.
There are so many things I use. I follow Booktubers, Blogs, Publishers, lists of books on Goodreads, and I also like to see what people are checking out at my local library or buying at local stores.
2. Do literary awards influence whether you will read a book, or not?
Somewhat. I feel that literary awards are pretty prestigious and usually the books that make these lists are well-written. Sometimes I will take the initiative to reach out and buy/borrow these books, but generally I like to read a review to see if the book is something I would like.
3. Do you feel pressure to read books that are considered important works of literature?
Yes. Especially ones that were once banned books and people fought so that everyone could read them. I read so many classics in school because I was required to, but as an adult I find it hard to read them on my own time. I want to read more classics!
4. Does the average star rating of a book on Goodreads influence whether you decide to read a book, or not?
No, unless the average is an extremely low star rating. I like to take a look at the reviews and see if their actually constructive or just angry rants.
5. Show some books that you think are under-hyped, or have low star ratings, but which you enjoyed and would recommend to others!
All of the books below have somewhat mid to low star ratings, but I actually though these books were so good! Check out my reviews for Saving Montgomery Sole and They’re Not Like Us.
6. Show some books on your TBR that have been influenced by either hype, awards or other ways.
All of these books below are books that were influenced by the hype on Book Twitter, and I was definitely not disappointed. Check out my reviews for An Extraordinary Union, Amina’s Voice, and Hold Me!
