What goes bump in the night?: Name a book that has legitimately scared you while reading it.
Before The Devil Breaks You by Libba Bray. The further I head into this series, the spookier the books become. The horror aspects had become so amped up that I had to read the novel in the daytime (I was thoroughly spooked). (Review)
Jack O Lanterns and Classic Costumes: A book you always reach for during Halloween time.
The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda D. Williams. A childhood favorite and a Halloween classic!
Black Cats and Magic Mirrors: A book you love that is laced with superstition and/or magic.
Craven Manor has all the formulaic bits of a haunted house story, but she adds some unique supernatural elements to make the story entertaining. It was one of those novels that I thought I had figured out and then the plot did a 180-degree spin on me.
Witch’s Brew: Favorite witch character in any book/series.
Hazel! This is a current series that I’m really enjoying. The story is about Hazel who is supposed to be a witch but is a late bloomer when coming into her powers. If you like supernatural tales and a lighthearted mystery, this series is an enjoyable read.
Ghouls and Ghosts: A book that still haunts you to this day (good or bad).
The Graveyard Apartment. It had all the key elements of a solid horror novel and even cleverly plays into the horror trope. The whole building is one ominous place with a mysterious history, there is a group of characters on a quest for a survival, and many things that go bump in the night! (Review)
Haunted Graveyard: You’re all alone in a haunted graveyard, you get ONE book to give you comfort, which is it?
Happily Ever Afters! it was the lighthearted novel that I was excited to read after a long day at work. I love the themes of romance, self-discovery, and friendships that developed over the course of the novel. (Review)
The Undead: Favorite supernatural creatures to read about (i.e. vamps, zombies, werewolves, etc).
Vampires for the win!
In the dead of night: Pick a book with a black cover.
Anxious Anna & The Souls. It’s definitely an ethereal tale with many interesting sci-fi elements and it accurately describes anxiety, depression through a philosophical/fantasy lens. (Review)
Trick or Treat?
Treat!

Toni Morrison’s Beloved is one of the first books that gave me sequential nightmares every night until I set it aside once more. Just the way she describes things, and how thin the veil between the worlds was for her. Phew.
That one in the apartment building-is it the kind of story that focuses on each of the residents? If so, I’d love to know more as I’m working on a piece about that!
I’m familiar with Beloved, but I haven’t read it yet. I’ve heard that the book is long-lasting. The Graveyard Apartment is a story that is mainly told from the pov of the main of the couple who move into the apartment with their daughter. Some of the residents are mentioned but the focus isn’t as heavy on them as the main leads.
