.Name a book that you said “thank u, next” to, i.e. DNF’d (did not finish).

I haven’t DNF’d any books as of lately, but one book that I wanted to DNF, but didn’t because of a review was The Unwilling. It was way too long and some of the plot just felt like thriller. I was excited to read, but felt dissatisfied.

Name a book that taught you love (i.e. a book you loved).

This book was so good from beginning to end. It had everything that I want in a fantasy novel: solid world building, magic, rich culture, and a wide variety of characters! I’m so excited to read the sequel.

Name a book that taught you patience.

This books taught me patience because it moved so slowly and I almost DNF’d it. But I’m glad I stuck with it as the story comes around full circle in the end. It’s a beautiful story about culture, growing up, and the bond between a mother and daughter.

Name a book that taught you pain.

My book club chose this book for March and it was a emotional roller coaster the entire book. While it was engrossing, it full of so much sadness and heartache as the readers witness all of the tragic things Dinah goes through. It was a lot to handle at times.

Name a book that you loved at the time of reading but in hindsight you do not like as much anymore but which you still learned some other quality from

Though I enjoyed this comic, I found it a bit underwhelming. The mystery is easy to solve (even for a younger audience) and I wanted to learn more about the main cast’s background.  It just think it could have been a stronger start to the series.

Name a book you’re currently talking to, i.e. have the hots for.

I haven’t started to read this book, but it’s one of my picks for the 2020 Romanceopoly challenge. I can’t wait to read it! I’ve heard so many good things about it.

Name the book that gon’ last – the book of you – the book that helped you love yourself a little bit more.

What I loved about this book is that a wide variety of black experiences from a teenager’s point-of-view and I really appreciated that. It shows that there is no one experience and I felt like I and other Black readers can really identify with the characters.
