The thing that stood out most to me about this series is that it’s not only focused on romance, but mainly self-love. It has an incredibly powerful and uplifting message on body image, finding yourself, and family; which was really refreshing to see.
You have a evil curse, a mystery surrounding missing children, dark magic, along with many other elements that keeps the reader constantly entertained in this novel. Every time I thought the villain was done they threw the story with another twist/evil plan.
I loved this book so much! It was short and sweet, but such a page turner. It kept the reader engrossed with colorful illustrations, fun characters, and lots of humor. Most importantly it teaches an important message to young readers about being yourself and being kind to others.
I’m a fan of Dami’s webcomics and I loved this collection of comic strips that are full of random musings about life and her experiences about moving from Korea to America. This was a fun book to read and it had me laughing out loud many times.
The stories are a lot of fun and reminded me why I enjoy this series so much however, while the beginning of the book started out strong the latter stories fell a bit flat for me. It left me feeling kind of meh.
This is Major is a book full of essays about the author’s experience as a Black woman and her thoughts of Black women in the media, pop culture, legacy, and so much more. Lawson is very upfront about her views and feelings. She tells things like it is in this book.
Okay, so this book series did already end, but I felt like there were too many books in this series. It’s went on and on, and because of this I dropped the series for good. I felt that the plot line was being stretched thinly.
I really couldn’t think of any recent reads with a character like this.
For this prompt I’m going to cheat since I just heard this series is being adapted. This is my favorite YA series (besides The Princess Diaries) by Meg Cabot. I want to do a re-read of this series.
People gave this book some meh ratings on Goodreads and I really enjoyed it! It was a lot of spooky fun and I liked the idea of a living, breathing haunted house.
This novel was engrossing from beginning to end equal parts crime mixed with a psychological thriller. I felt like it had a mind of its own just because it went all over the place (in a good way). It kept me on my toes!
Just like the title states, this book has a fun little cameo from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson himself!
