Today’s Video: BAM
Found At: National Film Board
This week’s bookish video pick is an animated from The National Film Board of Canada. BAM, is a film directed by Howie Shia and a spin on the original story of Hercules. It follows a young boxer struggling between his shy, bookish nature and his violent temper.
This was such a wonderfully animated short. Overall I felt the story was moving and a bit sad too as the boxes struggles to find a medium in his everyday life. I love retellings in films/books, and I appreciated that the creators of this film were inspired by the original story of Hercules, but gave its own unique, modern-day spin. Though it lasted only six minutes the main character really developed over the course of the story.
Question of the Week: If you were to write a retelling of your favorite book/fairy tale which one would you choose and why?
