Today’s Video: The Dangerous Myth About Libraries
Found At: TEDxTalks
This week’s video pick features a TED talk from TEDxWellington 2016. Speaker Laurinda Thomas, who is a former President of the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa (LIANZA), and a Director on the Aurora Foundation’s Leadership Institute for Information Professionals.
In this TED talk she discusses some of the misconceptions about libraries and that the media portrays an image of libraries dying. Though libraries do suffer from budget constraints and funding, she explains all the ways the that libraries are thriving in today’s society. As someone who works within a library, I can agree with a lot of the points Laurinda makes in her discussion. Libraries are essential to the community and they provide a world of resources to everyone!
Question of the week: What are some of the most common misconceptions you’ve heard people say about libraries?
Have a great weekend full of lots of reading!🙂
