Creepy stories with full audio production written by Black writers and performed by Black actors.
If you enjoy spooky stories around the campfire this podcast is the one for you. I don’t read too much horror fiction, but I love to find new horror podcasts. Some stories have ghosts, others feature the walking undead, and some have things that go bump in the night. I enjoy that it’s narrated by the authors themselves or Black actors. It’s a spine-tingling podcast for sure.
The best short fiction, handpicked by the best voice in podcasting. In every episode, host LeVar Burton (Roots, Reading Rainbow, Star Trek) invites you to take a break from your daily life, and dive into a great story. LeVar’s narration blends with gorgeous soundscapes to bring stories by Neil Gaiman, Haruki Murakami, Octavia Butler, Ray Bradbury and more to life. So, if you’re ready, let’s take a deep breath…
I’m a longtime fan of Reading Rainbow so when I hear Levar was hosting a podcast for short stories I was excited. He has the most soothing storyteller voice and I like the variety of short stories picked for each season. It’s helped me to discover some writers I was unfamiliar with and take a break from my daily grind.
The Two Princes is a scripted fantasy action adventure podcast from Gimlet Media. The story focuses on two princes from warring kingdoms who become unwitting allies when they journey into a mysterious forest in order to try and save their realms. Along the way, the two heroes fall in love with each other.
As a fan of fictional tales Two Princes had me instantly hooked to it’s narrative from the first episode. This is a great podcast for readers of fantasy and adventure stories. I found this podcast to be entertaining because of it’s voice acting cast and the story has lots of action, fantasy elements, romance, and comedy.
Black Chick Lit a bi-monthly podcast that talks books by and about black women. Each month, we host an in-depth look at a title written by a black woman and its author. We read across genres and forms, including literary fiction, non-fiction, YA, poetry and urban fiction.
I’m always seeking out new podcasts about Black authors and one of my new finds is Black Chit Lit. I love the candid and open conversations about the books they discuss for the podcast and author interviews. They review a wide range of genres and the hosts are very entertaining.
Welcome to Deadline City: a podcast and a destination. We are two New York City-based authors who share an office and work on multiple books at a time.
I’ve read books by Cordova and Clayton before so this podcast definitely piqued my interest. I’m a writer that’s always looking for ways to improve upon my own craft. This podcasts helps me to look at new ways of writing and the world of publishing. I like hearing their conversations about burn out, creating short stories, and the changes within the industry.
