Favorite Food Shows!

This time around for another roundup of my favorites I decided to talk about food shows. In this stressful time or when I’m feeling sad, cooking shows are such a source of comfort to me. I love seeing how food connects people together. Because I have a long list, I will most likely be sharing more food show recommendations. I decided to mix things up a bit by adding not only TV shows but some Youtube cooking channels too.

Nadiya’s Time To Eat

Nadiya Hussain shares a mouth-watering selection of stress-free recipes designed to help people save time and calm hectic lives.

I’m not the best cook, but I love cooking shows! I love this show and all of Nadiya’s delicious recipes. I like the variety of recipes showcased and that they seem easy to make. Nadiya’s recipes are more focused on spending less time and the kitchen and that’s what makes her recipes so appealing to me. Her recipes are easy to follow and I like that in this show she shows us where local foods are produced. I plan on making one of her creations in the future.

Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations

Bad-boy chef and best-selling author Anthony Bourdain hits both familiar culinary hotspots and out-of-the-way gems in his global quest for the ultimate dining experience. Along the way, Bourdain offers his perspective on both the food and the local customs he comes across in his travels.

I miss Anthony so much! I loved sitting down to watch the Travel show and see where he would travel to next. I liked the variety of locations he would travel to and his down-to-earth personality. He seemed to really connect with the locals of any place that he would visit. His show was a great blend of food and travel.

Nailed It!

Home bakers who have a poor track record in the kitchen seek redemption — and cash — on this series. In each episode, three contestants try their hand at re-creating edible masterpieces. The projects don’t always turn out great, but whichever amateur baker comes closest to a successful dessert by the end of the episode takes home the $10,000 prize.

I love watching any shows that have to do with baking and Nailed It, is one of my favorite because it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Instead of taking seasoned bakers, every contestant is regular people who just love to cook for fun. It’s entertaining to watch and see what crazy difficult desserts they’ll have to recreate and who will win the challenge. Most of all, the bakers don’t take themselves too seriously and just have fun with it. The judges make the show entertaining too.

HidaMari Cooking

The HidaMari Cooking channel on YouTube is hosted by Hidmari who makes Matcha& Green tea Cake, dessert, and foods from movies, etc.

HidaMari’s channel is full of yummy desserts from cakes to cakes, tarts, and tiramisu. Her channel is not only visually appealing and has an ASMR feeling to it. As a person with a sweet tooth, I’m always eager to see what sweet treats Hida will concoct next. Her videos are so soothing to watch after a long stressful day.

Somebody Feed Phil

Synopsis: Philip Rosenthal is perhaps best known as being the creator of long-running sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond,” but since that show went off the air he has gotten more on-camera exposure. In this series, he takes viewers on a goodwill eating tour of the world. Rosenthal — joined by friends and family — visits cities that include Tel Aviv, Mexico City, New Orleans and Bangkok to get a taste of the local cuisine and culture at each stop on his journey.

This show is always a joy to watch. Philip is very open to trying new foods and is always cracking jokes with everyone he meets. I like seeing the new places he discovers and how he’ll go to a mixture of local restaurants, five-start eateries, or even dining with close friends. Each season focuses on several new locations and each episode is entertaining. This show helps to satisfy my travel bug in the age of Covid.

Stovetop Kisses

Kitchen sensation and founder of Stove Top Kisses, Danni Rose is a native of Birmingham Alabama. Self-taught, she began cooking at the tender age of 10 in her father’s juke joint. Early on she realized her passion for comfort foods, texture, and the blending of flavors. She attributes much of her unique flair in the kitchen to her southern roots combined with her time living on the east coast. She enjoys cooking southern comfort food and believes food should not only nourish your body and soul but create and trigger memories that will last a lifetime.

I found this channel through a friend’s recommendation. I love to eat Southern Comfort Food and was raised on a lot of the recipes Danni cooks even though I’m a Midwesterner. Watching Danni put together each recipe is so much fun, plus her recipes are not too difficult. She creates everything from seafood dishes to game day party snacks. Watching her videos makes me so hungry! I highly recommend her channel.

  1. I really enjoy watching cooking shows, especially the ones that aren’t so focused on competition. My friend and I virtually watch Great British Bake Off together and it’s a wonderful atmosphere!

  2. I go in and out of food shows. I like looking at the food because it looks tasty and gives me ideas, but I’m a terrible cook so it’s frustrating. I was also getting tired of Black chefs getting sidelined in the competition shows I was watching (either not paying attention to contestants until their elimination ep, not spotlighting cuisine from majority Black countries, not having Black judges when they did cuisine from areas where Black people were a huge influence on the cuisine), so I stopped watching. I’ve heard good things about Delicious Miss Brown and was going to check that out at some point.

    1. I haven’t heard of Delicious Miss Brown, thanks for sharing that recommendation. I used to watch a ton of food competition shows, but now I’ve shifted more into baking competitions. I guess it’s less stressful of a watch. I’m not the best at cooking, but I really like chefs that make recipes easy to follow with ingredients that you have already in the kitchen.
