Favorite Holiday Films!

Since the holidays here I thought I would put together a compilation of some of my all-time favorite Christmas themed films I’ve watched over the years. Some are funny, some are mushy, and a couple will make you cry. All in all, you’ll walk away with a warm, fuzzy feeling in your heart after watching these films.

As to not repeat myself, I won’t be listing movies listed in previous list.

A Diva’s Christmas Carol

Synopsis: A remake of the Dicken’s classic, “A Christmas Carol” featuring a very nasty pop singer who gets a reality check by three Christmas spirits.

It’s been a long time since I watched this movie, but it’s one of my favorite TV movies Vanessa Williams is in. She is such a good actress and she plays the role of a scrooge/diva to the fullest in this role. It’s a fun film with a good message.

Synopsis: Depressed at the commercialism he sees around him, Charlie Brown tries to find a deeper meaning to Christmas.

This is a holiday classic that I watch every single year! I am huge fan of the Peanuts characters and this my favorite to watch. I love the story and the message about the importance of celebrating with others instead of focusing on the gifts.

Synopsis: Finally alone for the holidays, Luther and Nora Krankplan to eschew the Christmas traditions and take a cruise in the Caribbean instead. This doesn’t sit well with their Christmas-obsessed neighbors Vic Frohmeyer and Walt Scheel , who are determined to win the annual “best decorated street” competition, and the Kranks soon find themselves social outcasts because of their lack of Christmas spirit.

This is a feel-good, hilarious Christmas movie full of crazy hi-jinks that will keep you laughing. I like how it sets it sets apart from other films because the main characters actually trying to escape from Christmas rather than embrace traditions.

Synopsis: A simple act of kindness always sparks another, even in a frozen, faraway place. When Smeerensburg’s new postman, Jesper, befriends toymaker Klaus, their gifts melt an age-old feud and deliver a sleigh full of holiday traditions.

This movie is one of my newer favorites as it was released in 2019. It’s new twist on the Santa Claus origin story and I like that it’s full of humor and heart. I loved the cast of characters and the vivid colors/animation techniques. This is a must watch!

Synopsis: Madea dispenses her unique form of holiday spirit on rural town when she’s coaxed into helping a friend pay her daughter a surprise visit in the country for Christmas.

Madea movies always make me laugh out loud to the point of tears. I like how this movie is humorous. The characters always give you an entertaining movie experience especially in this one. Plus is tackles some topics such as interracial relationships, education, and living long-distance from family.

Synopsis: The Groundhog tells the story of how, for once, Jack Frost became human, and helped a knight win his lady love.

I always enjoy the Rankin Bass Christmas animated movies and I feel like this one is a bit overlooked. It’s a cute musical movie about Jack Frost and his background. As always the stop-motion animation is really pretty and the songs are so catchy!

I hope you enjoy these holiday picks!

    1. NBC is a classic, I always watch it multiple times a year. I’ve never seen Scrooged all the way through, so I need to go back and watch it. And I enjoyed Trading Places!
