Fictional Bookstores That I Love

Since I’ve seen so many bookstores in my life that I want to visit, why not share some of my favorite fictional bookstores with you. Here are some memorable ones I wish were real!

The Village Bookstore – Beauty and The Beast

I have always admired the castle’s library ever since I watched the film as a child, but no one ever talks about the cozy little village bookshop Belle frequents. They have such a wide collection even for such a small village. Though they may not have the newest titles in stock the shop provides a comfortable space for readers of all ages.

Literary Apothecary – The Little Paris Bookshop

A floating bookstore in a barge on the Seine? Sign me up! Monsieur Perdu, the bookstore’s owner, is a literary apothecary. He can prescribe novels for the hardships of life. Perdu constantly talks about how the power of reading which means he can find the perfect book for any bibliophile. Plus, the Literary Apothecary seems like such a scenic landscape for a bookstore in the City of Love.

Unamed Bookstore – Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san

Located somewhere in the busy streets of Tokyo this bookstore specializes in manga. Filled to the brim with all different genres Honda-san and his co-workers do their best to help customers daily despite their sometimes-unusual requests. This bookstore gives off a vibe similar to Kinokuniya and I bet they carry harder-to-find titles too. As an avid manga reader, I would shop here every week.

Opus Northeast – Zora Books Her Happy Ever After

Set in the Washington DC area, Opus Northeast is a bookstore that gives back to the community through it while also spreading a deep love for literacy. The bookstore seemed like a literary safe haven for books and I appreciated how Zora, the bookstore’s owner (and main character of the story) put so much effort into helping young, local Black and Brown writers get their start. It seems like the coziest shop!

Embroyo Concepts – Funny Face

I’m a huge Audrey Hepburn fan so I enjoyed watching Funny Face. Embryo Concepts is a bookstore overstocked with more nonfiction material than anything else. But the store’s layout is chic and eye-catching. Audrey Hepburn is a unassuming bookstore clerk but I feel like she would have good books to recommend.
