Free Comic Book Day 2015 Haul!
It’s time for a special edition haul post! As you may or may not have known, this past Saturday was Free Comic Book Day! This once-a-year special event is held on the first Saturday of May. Participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their shops. It’s a great way to promote reading comics!
Coincidentally, Saturday was also Independent Bookstore Day as well. It promotes shopping at local book shops and I also bought some goodies from a couple of independent bookstores. Stay tuned for those purchases toward the end of the month.
This year, the event offered 50 different comics to choose from! I grabbed some great free swag and tried to put myself on a strict comic buying budget since RT Booklovers Convention is coming up next week.
Liberty Comics
My first stop was Liberty Comics, which is one of my favorite local comic shops. The staff is friendly and they have a wide variety of comics!
Doctor Who/ Attack on Titan/ Super Mutant Magic Academy
I was so excited to get my hands on a Doctor Who freebie being a Whovian and equally excited to get all the goodness that is Attack on Titan! I love that anime, so I’m intrigued to check out the manga/comic.
Edward Scissorhands/ Lumber Janes
I didn’t even know they made a Edward Scissorhands comic! This is one of my favorite Tim Burton movies so I’ll have to check it out! As for Lumber Janes, this book has been on my to read list for a while. The story looks fun and the artwork is colorful.
Comix Corner
My second comic book shop stop. I have always passed by this store, but it’s my first time ever visiting it. They also had a great selection of comics to choose from.
Ten Year Celebration Collection/ Avengers/ Teen Titans Go!
They had my girl, Ms.Marvel, on the cover so how could I possibly resist picking up a copy of the Avengers! I’m also a huge Teen Titans fan, so I grabbed this book too. My favorite Teen Titan is Starfire.
Bob’s Burgers/ Roger Rabbit
Bob’s Burger’s is my show, I love all of the characters!
Circle of Blood/ The Scarlet Letter
The cover art and story for Circle of Blood looks really intriguing. Being an English major, I couldn’t resist picking up a comic version of The Scarlet Letter. It’s a literary classic!
Fables/ Outcast/ Alex + Ada
I’ve just started reading Fables and I like how it’s a grittier version of Once Upon a Time (tv show). I’ve seen Outcast and Alex + Ada floating around online, so I decided to pick up the first issue.
And that completes my Free Comic Book Day haul! Did you also participate in this year’s event? Buy any good comic books lately? Comment below. 🙂
