Free Comic Book Day 2016 Haul!
May 7th, 2016 marked the annual event that is Free Comic Book Day! Once a year in Spring participating comic book specialty shops across North America and even around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their shops. Like Independent Book Store Day this day celebrates independent comic book specialty shops and promotes the reading of comic books.
As a young child, my love of comics was fostered when I was in elementary school. I grew up reading kid-friendly comics such as Scooby Doo!, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Archie, and much more. Later on, I got into reading Japanese manga in middle school, and from there on I stared to branch out into full graphic novels. I enjoy reading comics and they are so much fun.
I was super geeked for this year’s Free Comic Book Day as they had some great titles lined up. I was able to visit two of my local comic shops, snag some free comics, check out the newest titles, and buy some stuff on my TBR list as well.
Here’s what I picked up:
Bob’s Burgers by Various Writers
Archie by Mark Waid & Fiona Staples -I’m curious to read the new version since I’ve been reading Archie for a long time.
Suicide Squad by Adam Glass
Paper Girls by Brian K. Vaughn – This has been on my TBR since last year.
Jonesy Issues 2& 3 by Sam Humphries & Caitlin Rose Boyle – The artwork is so cute!
March by John Lewis – This has also been on my TBR list for a while now.
Attack on Titan Anthology by Various Writers
Doctor Who by Various Writers (Includes multiple stories) – Being a Whovian I couldn’t resist picking this up!
Camp Midnight by Steven T. Seagle
Boom! Studios 2016 Summer Blast by Various Writers – It’s got a Lumberjanes story included in it, so I really wanted to read this.
Mermaid Wonders Adult Coloring Book by Deborah Muller – I know I didn’t need to pick up another coloring book because I have so many, but the artwork is gorgeous!
That concludes my 2016 Free Comic Day Haul. Which comics did you pick up? Let me know in the comment section below. 🙂
I picked Suicide Squad and March, too!
Yay! Great minds think alike. 🙂
I really want to get into the Bob’s Burgers comics!!
Me too! I’m a fan of the show, but I’ve never read the comics before.
I went Free Comic Book Day too! It was my first one. I picked up March as well and volume 1 of Paper Girls.
Glad you enjoyed yourself! And I wanted to get vol 1 of Paper Girls, but they didn’t have it in stock. But I’m still happy I got the first issue.
