What I’m Listening To…Halloween Edition
Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In this blog post series I’ll be sharing some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist of five songs.
For this month’s edition of “What I’m Listening To” I decided tosupply you with some spooky tunes for Halloween! This time around I chose some songs made for Halloween or have a supernatural theme to it. Enjoy!

1) Mad Monster Party by Ethel Ennis
This is a sultry and spooky title track from one of my favorite underrated Rankin-Bass movies (think of the stop-motion Christmas special movies) Mad Monster Party. It’s a song about things that go bump in the night while perfectly setting up the tone for the movie. This comedic film follows the story of Dr. Frankenstein when decides to retire from the monster-making business, he calls an international roster of monsters to a creepy convention to elect his successor. I highly recommend this!
2) Full Moon by Sunmi
Deciding to add a bit of K-Pop flair to the playlist, I chose a song from one of my favorite solo artists. Sunmi from former group, Wonder Girls, shines in this track. This MV is spooky and follows the story line of a vampire who falls in love with a human. What happens when she transforms under the full moon?
2) Ghosts by Michael Jackson
Surprising I haven’t heard of this other Halloween-esque by Michael. Usually Thriller comes to mind, but this song is also a great spooktacular track. The song is used in 1996 short film (of the same title) starring Michael Jackson. The film tells the story of a scary Maestro with supernatural powers, who is being forced out of a small town by its mayor all the way to New York.
4) I’m Your Devil (Halloween Remix) by Tommy Heavenly6
One of my favorite female J-Rock singers is Tommy Heavenly6. The MV has the Halloween look and feel down pact. From the creepy and kawaii costumes to the alternative sound. It’s the perfect song to rock out to at a Halloween party!
5) Helena by My Chemical Romance
Last but not least, My Chemical Romance’s Helena is my final pick. MCR was one of my favorite bands growing up and I not only enjoyed the melody of this song, but also the gorgeous cinematography. The MV has a simple plot, with Gerard Way as a very emotional mourner at a funeral where the band is performing. There are also mourners who dance and mourn the death of Helena. Near the end, the dead body of Helena rises and dances down the aisle representing crossing over into the afterlife.
I hope you enjoyed this mini playlist! What are your favorite songs that Halloween? Comment below with some suggestions.
