What I’m Listening To…Wanderlust
Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In this blog post series I’ll be sharing some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist of five songs.
As the day continually grow warmer and dreams of vacations are on my mind, I decided to make a “Wanderlust” playlist for this month. These songs are meant to inspire travel and talk about going to beautiful destinations or having fun on a good ol’ road trip. I hope you enjoy these songs.
1) Paris, Tokyo by Lupe Fiasco
This track is probably in my top five of my favorite Lupe Fiasco. With a smooth hip-hop melody and mellow beats, this is the perfect song to relax to. This song is inspired by Lupe’s travel to multiple countries all over the globe and it will have you wanting to travel to these places too.
2) On The Open Road from A Goofy Movie
The ultimate road trip song from a very (in my opinion) underrated Disney movie. If you’re looking for songs about road trips or movies, this one is a must watch. It’s got such a fun and happy melody and it also expresses what it’s like to go on a road trip with your parents.
3) Gypsy by Shakira
Next up, is Gypsy by Shakira! The song draws heavy influences from Indian and Middle Eastern music as it is infused into the song’s melody. The lyrics of the song describe one’s life travelling as a gypsy. The cinematography for this MV is beautiful and as always Shakira’s vocals really shine.
4) Paris Nights, New York Mornings by Corrine Bailey Rae
If you like R&B music with a poppy style melody, this track is for you. Corrine struts around various locations of Paris while singing about her travels. Whenever I listen to this song it leaves me with such a happy feeling!
5) Me and Bobby McGee by Janis Joplin
Last on this playlist is a soulful, but country music sounding song by Janis Joplin. The song follows a couple that hitches a ride from a truck driver and sing as they drive through the American south. They go on to visit California and then eventually part ways. It’s not only a song about road trips, but about love too.
