Indie Bookstores To Visit in Metro Detroit Pt.1
Hello everyone! I love visiting independent bookstores and shopping at local businesses regularly. Because it’s important to #shopsmall, here are some bookstores in the Metro Detroit area that you should visit when you’re here. A lot of these shops have websites that you can shop at as well if you can’t shop in person!
Green Brain Comics is located in Dearborn, MI. They have such a wide variety of comics, graphic novels, and manga in their store and there’s so much to choose from. The staff is very friendly and helpful! I’ll definitely be back to visit soon!
This used book store is located in Royal Oak, MI. They always have a wide assortment used books as well as a selection of new books. I’ve found some books that I’ve been meaning to add to my collection at this store. They always have something new and the store’s atmosphere is so relaxing!
Source Booksellers is a Black owned bookstore in Detroit’s Midtown district which has a niche of non-fiction books. This is one of the first niche bookstores I discovered in the area and the store is so cozy. It’s helped me to broaden my reading horizons with the wide variety non-fiction they carry!
Book Beat is a fun bookstore located in Oak Park, MI. They have so many genres and the shop sellers are eager to recommend any new books that you might want to read. I love the changing displays that are so creative! I also enjoy the many author/book events this store hosts. You’re guaranteed to find a good book here.
Located in Downtown Detroit, this is a bookstore that you can get lost in. Every time I visit I spend at least a couple of hours inside of it. It’s also known as Michigan’s largest used book store. It’s truly a sight to see as the building is a four-story former Advance Glove factory and houses four floors of books! This is a must visit bookstore.
Stay tuned for part two! What bookstores do you like to visit in your area?
Aww, I love this! One of my favorite things to do when I travel to a new city, for conferences or whatever, is looking up an indie bookstore in the area and buying something at it. I collect bookmarks from bookstores I’ve visited!
Same here! I always seek out some new indie in different cities. I find the coolest bookstores when I’m traveling.
This is awesome. And forget your travel plans to come and visit me because now I’ll be coming to visit John King’s books, errrr, I mean, coming to visit you! Wow–that’s amazing. Four floors. 🙂
Haha! If you do come when things are better, I’ll join you on a trip to John King. I haven’t been in a while, but that bookstore is such a treat to shop at. There’s so many books to choose from.
