July Book Haul!!!
Hello fellow blogger, readers, and book buyers! Welcome to my July book haul aka “Rachel bought more books than she intended to” edition. These books were all purchases on my recent trip to Frankenmuth, MI. Read all about my adventure here. In order to somewhat budget my book buying, I tried to stick to buying books I had been looking to add to my collection. If it wasn’t something I hadn’t already intended to buy then I did price comparisons from other book sites.
My first stop for book shopping was Book Warehouse, located in Birch Run (just outside of Frankenmuth). I had shopped there before, so I knew I would find a good book.
“The Pearl Diver” by Sujata Massey
“American Fuji” by Sara Backer
“Sima’s Undergarments For Women” by Illana Stranger-Ross
Later that day, I made a stop at Charlie’s Book Nook (located in the Riverplace shops in Frankenmuth). It’s a much smaller bookstore than Book Warehouse, but it’s comfy and the owners are very nice and helpful.
“Dragon Bones” by Lisa See
“Shadow Kiss” (Vampire Academy #3) by Richelle Mead
(I haven’t bought this one in the series yet, but I’m glad I could get it at such as great price.)
And on the very last day of my trip I stopped at another outlet mall on the way back home. This place was called, Bargain Books. The great thing about it was that all the books were 25 cents a piece. The sad side of the low prices is that it was the store’s final day and it was closing. The owner was trying to get rid of as many books as he could so he lowered the prices. And so I mourn the loss of another book store 🙁
“Blonde Roots” by Bernardine Evaristo
“Tomorrow They Will Kiss” by Eduardo Santiago
“Paper Butterfly” by Diane Wei Liang
“The Exorsistah: X Returns” (#2) by Claudia Mair Burney (I can’t wait to read this!)
“Korean In 60 Minutes” (Audio CD)
“Lord of Bones” by Christine Musk
“Dawnbreaker” (Dark Days Novel #3) by Jocelyn Drake
“Bad To The Bone” by Jeri-Smith Ready
“Sunrise in a Garden of Love & Evil?” – Barbara Monajem
And that is everything I bought! The plus side of buying all these new books is that it gave me the incentive to finally organize and alphabetize my book collection. It’s a lot easier to find things now. The setup is not completely fixed to the way I like it, but it’s still a good start (what I really need is another bookshelf though).
What books have you been buying lately?
*All pictures were taken by me with my Nikon camera.
I have to admit that I’ve never heard of any of these books. Which is why browsing in stores/snooping on other readers’ hauls is so much fun! (And omfg – I just looked up the “Exorsistah” books and they sound like so. much. fun.) Sad to hear that another bookshop has died. Do you have any indie bookstores near where you live?
Hey Sarah, if you’re interested in the Exorsistah books, I reviewed the first novel not too long ago: http://lifeofafemalebibliophile.wordpress.com/2014/03/24/book-review-exorsistah-exorsistah-1-by-claudia-mair-burney/
It’s a great series! I have a mixture of indie and used books near my home. I plan on writing on about them in a future post. What about you?
