March-April Book Haul: “Spring Into Reading” Edition

Welcome to another brand new book haul on the blog! This time it’s the “Spring Into Reading” edition since we are in the Spring season and have already passed the first quarter of 2022. How time flies! The past months have been full of Spring cleaning including my overflowing book collection. I decided that it was time to part with many books on my shelves that I was no longer interested in reading and novels I just wanted to pass on to other readers. It was long overdue for a cleaning anyway, even though I try to unhaul books at least once a year. This time I unhauled about 100+ plus books and as a result my shelves are looking a lot cleaner and I have more space from downsizing my collection.

I made two trips to 2nd & Charles since they take in books for cash/store credit. In doing so, I was able to get some new books without spending any more. 98% of the books I “bought” this time around were paid with store credit and leftover gift cards from my birthday. I spent less than $20 on new titles which felt great!

Now onto the book haul!

Bought

Cutie & The Beast Vol.3 by Yuhi Azumi. A series that follows a romance that blooms between a pro-wrestler and his fan. The romance is slow-moving in this series but I like it.

Living Room Mastunaga-San Vol. 10 by Keiko Iwashita – Only one more volume to go and this series will be completed on my manga shelves. I love this cohabitation romance series and the character development over the course of the story.

Wotakoi: Love is Hard For Otaku Vol. 4 & 5 by Fujita – I believe there’s just one more to add to the collection of this omnibus of this Josei series. It’s a story about love, romance, and nerd life. It’s very comedic and I love the couples featured in the story.

Let’s Make Dumplings by Hugh Amano & Sarah Becan – This is a charming illustrated cookbook all about dumplings and sauces you can make to pair with them. We used this cookbook at my last book club meeting where we made dumplings. I saw it at Five Below and wanted to pick it up for myself.

Rat Queens Vol. 1 by Kurtis J. Wiebe & Roc Upchurch – Trying to finish collecting all the volumes of this series.  Each one of the ladies has a different personality and fighting style, but put them all together and they make an amazing team. They are humorous, sassy, and they kick butt!

Witch Hat Atelier Vol.1 by Kamome Shirahama – I’ve been wanting to buy this book for months now! It’s a story about a girl who longs for magic in her life and learns that, on the inside, she already is what she wishes she could be.

Skull-Face Bookseller Honda-San Vol.3 by Honda-San – Just one more volume to complete the series (four volumes in total). A great manga series about books and booksellers.

Dragon Goes House-Hunting Vol.2,4,5 by Kawo Tanuki & Choco Aya – This series follows the story of a dragon that feels like an outcast and is trying to find a new place where he can truly call home.

Eva Evergreen and The Cursed Witch by Julie Abe – I have been searching for the second installment of this series in multiple bookstores.  This is such a fun fantasy series that transported me to a faraway magical world. I loved the cliffhanger of book one so I’m eager to find out what happens next!

Spy x Family Vol. 1 by Tatsuya Endo – I devoured Volume One in one sitting so I rushed to the bookstore to pick up the second installment. e story follows a spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realizing that the girl he adopts as a daughter and the woman he agrees to be in a marriage with are a mind reader and an assassin.

I Hear The Sunspot: Limit Vol. 1 by Yuki Fumino – I loved the first installment in this series so I also picked up this book too. It’s a series about romance but also self-discovery and understanding. It was heartwarming to read this manga and I liked how it deals with some heavier topics. So I’m curious to read the continuation of the main character’s narrative.

The Noh Family by Grace K. Shim – Following the story of Chloe, The Noh Family is a YA novel that explores family as our main character is on a quest to find out more about her family lineage. (Review)

But when a romance with a small business owner next door sets off a spark will that mean happily ever after for the both of them? (Review)

Love Radio by Ebony LaDelle – A YA novel about a self-professed teen love doctor with a popular radio segment who believes he can get a girl who hates all things romance to fall in love with him in only three dates. (Review to come soon!

  1. Wow, well done on the de-accessioning and what a lovely selection you’ve picked up. I got a lot of old Virago Travellers last month and have won some more NetGalley titles this month, but need to rein it in a bit!

    1. Thanks! I’m really trying to work on reading more of my own books and buying less books. Hope you were able to get some great NetGalley titles this month.
