More Cozy Holiday Watching Recommendations

It’s that Holly Jolly time of year and that means Christmas-themed media. I’ll be sharing holiday-themed posts throughout the month of December. Today I’m talking about some cozy watching recommendations. Here are some picks that I’ve enjoyed and recommend to you.

A Storm for Christmas

A group of people arrive at Oslo airport, some to welcome loved ones, some to travel home and some to fly away; however, they all get stranded at the airport, as the clock ticks down to Christmas.

I love stories told through multiple points of view and these follows people through all walks of life while stuck at an airport. Each person has their own struggles and is dealing with their own way of coping despite Christmas being the season of cheer. It’s well-written and the cast of characters felt so real and relatable. It’s a short episode run so it’s easily bingeable!

Olive, the Other Reindeer

When Santa cancels his annual flight because of a hurt reindeer, a young Christmas loving dog named Olive is convinced she has what it takes to get Santa’s flight off the ground and save Christmas.

This adorable, animated film is one of my favorites and I feel it’s an often-overlooked 90s film. The voice work is fantastic, and I love the animation style. It’s about a dog (Barrymore) who thinks she is a reindeer and goes on a quest to help Santa after one of the other reindeer can’t. It’s an entertaining witty film and it includes some great songs as well.

Unlikely Angel

A country singer with a cheating boyfriend is killed in a car crash, but on arriving outside the gates of heaven she is told by St Peter that she must go back to earth and complete a task before being able to enter heaven.

What a cute film I found in the past couple of years on a whim! Starring the loveable Dolly Parton as a quirky angel trying to help a family, this film is sure to put a smile on your face. It’s light-hearted, humorous, and fun. It may be cheesy in all the right spots and predictable, but the best part is that you get to hear Dolly Parton sing.

The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Holiday

Ellie Kemper and Zach Cherry host a baking contest in the iconic tent, with six celebrity bakers who bake up a storm to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith and win the coveted cake stand and Star Baker crown.

This is an American version of the Great British Bake-Off which feature celebrities. It’s very relaxing and what made it entertaining to watch is seeing the celebrities getting passionate about baking even though they all have different levels of baking skills. It was fun to watch and made me laugh out loud a lot. In my opinion the holiday version of this show is the best!

A Christmas Winter Song

Clio befriends Fred, a former jazz singer down on his luck. They form a special bond over music, and Clio, having just lost her own father, helps Fred reconnect with his own daughter, just in time for Christmas.

This is a heartfelt film about an estranged family and the power of healing that music can bring. I always enjoy Ashanti’s Christmas films and this one is no different. This film is emotionally charged, and I felt such empathy for the main characters trying to overcome their grief and find happiness once again. This film gave me all the feelings.

Almost Christmas

Walter Meyer is a retired mechanic who lost the love of his life one year earlier. Now that the holiday season is here, he invites daughters Rachel and Cheryl and sons Christian and Evan to his house for a traditional celebration. Poor Walter soon realizes that if his bickering children and the rest of the family can spend five days together under the same roof, it will truly be a Christmas miracle.

This movie is one of those holiday films that resonate with everyone. The movie is a heart filled, crazy, emotional, and tender look at family. It’s definitely clishe and formulaic but it is filled with laughs and heartfelt moments. What really makes this movie work is the casting and the crew of actors that bring these characters to life on the screen.

I hope you enjoyed these Holiday themed cozy-watching recommendations. Do you have any favorites that you’ve watched over the years?
