My Favorite Things 2020: Music

As 2020, comes to a close. I’ll be sharing my favorites of the year, and chatting about my top picks. Today I’ll be sharing my top picks in music. Narrowing down music into compilation posts is always a daunting task for me since I listen to a wide variety of music on a daily basis.

Like in 2019, I’ve continued straying away more from top 40 radio hits and listening to way more Spotify, music playlists on YouTube, etc. I’ve been listening to a lot of Lo-fi music playlists especially since it helps me as I work from home, plus its comforting to me. 2020 has been such a difficult year and I always find music to be therapeutic.

Here’s a list of some of my 2020 favorites in music:

Spotify Stats

As usual, lots of K-pop, the Hamilton soundtrack, Lofi music, and newer independent artists kept me going this year. Here are just a few snippets of podcasts I have on a loop and some of my top songs!

  • Colde
  • Daniel Caesar
  • Necry Talkie
  • Keshi
  • Jessie Reyez
  • Ryokuoushoku Shakai

Albums

My list of albums is so small since 90% of albums I’ve been listening to is all old stuff. I haven’t listened to any any albums released in 2020. But here are a few favorites of mine.

Because This is My First Life OST – Do you ever just listen to an OST for a show that is so good that it can be listened to as a standalone album? This K-drama OST had a little bit of everything in music plus it matched the themes in the show. It’s one of my favorite OSTs I’ve listened to in a long time.

Ever Letter I Sent To You by Yerin Baek – Yerin’s vocals are so incredibly soothing and relaxing. I love her overall R&B sound and soft vocals. Her music is great for when I need something to calm myself with or when I just want to listen to chill music.

Whack World by Tierra Whack – Tierra is new to me since I’m always late on the bandwagon for discovering new music. It’s an interesting album with a mixture of different rap elements. I like that every track is a new sound, but as a whole the album just flows together.

What were your music favorites in 2020? Are there any albums, debuts, or songs that you constantly had on repeat? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
