Movies
To Catch a Thief
Notorious cat burglar John Robie has long since retired to tend vineyards on the French Riviera. When a series of robberies is committed in his style, John must clear his name. Armed with a list of people who own the most expensive jewels currently in the area, John begins following the first owner, young Francie. When her jewels are stolen, Francie suspects John, destroying their tentative romance. John goes on the lam to catch the thief and clear his own name.
I enjoy Hitchcock films so I decided to watch To Catch a Thief and was pleasantly surprised by the film. In my eyes it doesn’t beat Rear Window which also starred Grace Kelly, but its still an engaging film to watch from beginning to end. The move is takes a light and humorous path and gives a cat-and-mouse feeling as John is trying to track down the true thief. There are beautiful views of the French Rivera and scenery throughout the film making for a enjoyable cinematic experience.
Missing
When her mother disappears while on vacation in Colombia with her new boyfriend, June’s search for answers is hindered by international red tape. Stuck thousands of miles away in Los Angeles, June creatively uses all the latest technology at her fingertips to try and find her before it’s too late. However, as she digs ever deeper, her digital sleuthing soon raises more questions than answers.
This thriller and it’s amazing cast kept me on the edge of my seat. It’s definitely a movie that will take you on a emotional rollercoaster that leaves a lasting impact that sticks with you long after moving it. s. The film explores complex themes such as loss, identity, and the lengths people will go to protect their loved ones. I thought the way it was told through social media apps, video chats, and mobile devices. It added a layer of suspense to all of the non-stop action in the film.
In For a Murder
A stay-at-home mother and avid reader of crime stories discovers the deepest secrets of a small town’s residents while investigating a woman’s murder.
This movie may be formulaic but it gives me all the cozy mysteries vibes as the main character is a avid reader of mystery novels that becomes an amateur sleuth. It’s comedic, suspenseful, and all the characters have great personalities. I enjoyed the main heroine’s growth and how she goes on a personal journey to finally liberate herself! I felt this movie is a tale that tugs at your heart strings and it has special charm!
TV
Pokémon Concierge
With the help of concierge Haru, Pokémon relax and have fun at the Pokémon Resort.
As a casual Pokémon fan growing up and also having a love for clay/stop-motion animation I was instantly drawn to this so. It’s incredibly wholesome and cute! The attention to detail in the animation is amazing! Each episode is very short though which is my only complaint. It’s super relaxing to watch and it makes me want to live/work on the Pokémon Resort! I believe they are working on more episodes, and I’m highly anticipating more to come from this series.
Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin
Newcomer Franklin has trouble fitting in with the Peanuts gang; then, he learns about a Soap Box Derby race, and he’s sure that winning the race will also mean winning over new friends.
I meant to talk about this series in my February wrap-up but I forgot to include it so I’m adding it here. As a long time Peanuts fan it was so wholesome and long overdue to see Franklin get his own special. I enjoyed the blend of modern animation that also manages to keep the Peanuts signature style. I hope they will produce more Franklin specials! I appreciated the show giving the backstory of him, his family, and also how he became friends with Charlie Brown. This was the absolute cutest!

I Regret Decluttering my DVDs (Importance of Physical Media)
I so agree with this video and even though I do have a nostalgic attachment to some forms of physical media, I do feel it’s important to keep what we have. With the rise of digital streaming nowadays there is a lack of being able to have access to media with all of the ongoing streaming wars.
Why You Keep Buying Books You Don’t Read
A fun and interesting video that gives some insight into the publishing industry, hyped books, and the influence of Booktok. I found this video to be relatable and I could also agree to some of the points it makes about buying books as a hobby rather than reading them.
Music
Night In by Brittney Spencer
I’m always on the hunt for new music and stumbled upon Brittney Spencer who is a country singer–songwriter. I love the guitar melody that gives this song it’s energetic sound and makes me instantly want to sing along with the lyrics.
Can’t Get Out of This Mood by Samara Joy
One of my new favorite Jazz soloists! Samara is a force to be reckoned with and her sultry vocal tones takes me back to classical Jazz tunes and is reminiscent of singers such as Ella Fitzgerald. Her live performances are phenomenal!
Boxes and Squares by Tank and the Bangas
Even though I’m late to the game I discovered this group from NPR Tiny Desk (which I’ve been devouring non-stop lately). Their sound is soulful and and I love the use of a hip-hop style of poetry in their music. It’s soothing and has me grooving along to the music as well.
