New Year, New Planner: Book Bullet Journal 2021
For 2021 I decided to try a new book planner. In the past I’ve used the Always Fully Booked Planner. To shake things up a bit I decided to convert a bookish Happy Planner notebook into a Bullet journal (Bujo). I wanted to switch things up and track my reading habits in a creative style.
For my title page, I went with collage style full of book pages. It pained me to tear up a book, but it was a book I was going to donate eventually. I added in some stickers and the page was done! I’ve seen a lot of collage styles on the web and I think I may somewhat replicate it for future layouts.
Next, I set up a goals page since I don’t set any bookish resolutions. This is where I’ll track my top priority reads, list my reading challenges, goals that I want to meet throughout 2021, and adaptations that I want to watch. I kept it simple so I can fill up the page.
I also kept a simplistic book tracker to keep track of my reading. I though about adding in star rating, but remembered that didn’t work so well in my other bookish planners, so I went without it. For January’s title page I didn’t have much of an idea, so I went with a giant book and added in the loveable snowman, Olaf.
I think the hardest thing about January’s layout was making a calendar layout that spread out evenly on the page. I wanted to make sure I didn’t mess up the dates. That calendar in addition to my blog schedule page will help me stay on top of things I need to take care of for the blog.
I really enjoyed other book Bujo spreads where people added in the book pictures. Though my reading varies from month to month, I want to keep a TBR of 10 books that I will try to focus on each month. I’m a mood reader so it’s easier said than done, but I really want to be on schedule with ARCs, book club, and backlist reads. So far I’ve read two of these books!
Lastly for my setup, I made pages for two of my Reading Challenges: Literature in Translation and Reading Women. I love how the Translation page turned out and my stationery collection came in handy. These will be nice pages to reflect on at the end of the year.
This is the first time I tried Bujo journaling and I found it quite relaxing! I’ve still got a lot of learn but I am happy with my initial January layout. I still need to add in my book challenge pages. If you have any bookish Bujo tips, please let me know. Do you have a bookish planner?
This looks like so much fun. I especially like the little suitcases for your translation challenge! 🙂
Thanks! I really like how that page turned out. I can’t wait to read more translated works.
It looks wonderful! I have not been hugely successful with doing cute planner things, although this last year for the very first time I was able to successfully keep a planner. I am so proud of myself about it! But it is not super adorable like your pictures. 😛
Thank you! This is my first year trying bujo. I hope it works out! And congrats on your planner too! I want to be consistent with this journal in 2021.
Enjoyed the post. I don’t bujo because it seems like extra work to make the whole thing pretty. I won one in a giveaway though so I guess I have to get the knack of it. XD
I used to feel the same way too. But maybe because I craft all the time I saw it as another creative outlet for me. It takes a while to get a knack for it, but it’s very relaxing. I also use some bujo for memory keeping too, so that’s another way you can use it too.
