Cuckoo Song by Frances Hardinge – I love a spooky looking cover design and I always see Hardinge’s books in the bookstore. It sounds like a fun urban fantasy book.

ARCs/Review Copies

The Iron Raven by Julie Kagawa – I’m a part of a blog tour for this book. I loved the Iron Fey when read them back in the day and was excited to hear about a brand new series set in the same universe!

One of the Good Ones by Maika & Maritza Moulite – This book is written beautifully and I felt connected to the text deeply. One of the Good Ones had me go through a rollercoaster ride of emotions but it was so good. (Review)

Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston – B.B. Alston takes many familiar elements of the Fantasy genre and blends them to make a story of his own. The first novel in the series takes readers on a whirlwind as we discover a supernatural world hidden in plain sight. (Review)

Mistletoe and the Mouse by Elsa Simonetti – This was such a cute and cozy holiday novel that really puts the reader in a Disney and holiday spirit. (Review)

Biko and The Thief: And Other Stories by Kevin Greene – For a person that loves Sci-Fi and all things Star Trek I liked the elements of the story that reminded me of other pop culture media set in space. It was richly diverse and it showed a different take on other stories I’ve read in the Sci-Fi genre. (Review)

Matrimony, Inc. by Francesca Beauman – Considering how we’ve evolved over time when it comes to marriage ads and that they’ve now become dating apps it was interesting to see how it all got started. (Review)

Wings of Ebony by J. Elle – The cover art is amazing. I got a review copy from Books Forward and the synopsis alone sounds so good!

The Happiness Thief by Nicole Bokat – A suspenseful thriller. It’s been a while since I read one of those.

A Deadly Fortune by Stacie Murphy – Historical fiction for the win! I seems to have a lot of it in this haul. It’s a mystery novel too.

American Betiya by Anuradha d. Rajukar – I like how the cover art for this one looks like a textured painting. It also seems like I have a lot of new YA books in this haul. I feel like I haven’t read that much lately.

The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner – The subject matter seemed interesting so I decided to hop on this blog tour.

Like Home by Louisa Onome – Another blog tour ARC read. I think this will be a thought-provoking YA novel.

  1. Daaaaaamn, look at all those! I hope you like the Brandy Colbert book — I think she always does such a great job of playing out her characters’ emotional lives. She’s also one of few YA authors I’ve encountered whose books engage with religion — I read a book a while back where the protagonist was Jewish, and it was truly so refreshing to see that as part of the YA landscape.

    1. Hahaha! It’s a lot of books for sure. I’ve been doing good at reading through my backlist books this year so far. I hear a lot about Colbert’s books so I wanted to give one a try. I’m looking forward to reading her works.

  2. Wow! That’s a big haul! I really want to read Amari sometime this year.
And omg! I’ve been thinking about the Diviners a lot lately. Let me know whether or not you want to buddy-read the third book sometime this year.

    1. Lol, I think I overdid it this time, even in a three month span of things. Luckily all of the books I did purchase were discounted, so that helped me save a lot. And yes! Let’s plan for a buddy read of the third book. I’m eager to see how the story continues.

  3. You’ve got so many good reads ahead of you! And congrats on having read so many of your backlisted books in 2020 too. That Sherman Alexie is a favourite of mine. And I’ve heard that the Sour Heart collection is great. Also, I’ve added Happy Marriage to my list of manga to check out. Thanks!

    1. Happy Marriage is a lot of fun! Enoji Maki writes some interesting shojo manga. Thanks! I’m hoping to tackle more backlist reads this year too.

  4. Going to read Amari and the Night Brothers this month. Added Biko and the Thief to my TBR. Hope you enjoy Wings of Ebony.
