October – December: “Ending the Decade with More Books” Edition

Hello everyone! Welcome to the final book haul of 2019! I couldn’t complete my reading goal for 150 books for 2019, but I’m going to try to complete that goal in 2020. I’m starting to catch up on Netgalley reads and other review copies. Stay tuned for those reviews. I’ve also made an effort to read of my e-book collection as well. I feel like I neglect it too often.

As far as book buying goes, I’ve done well except for the large purchase I made at Barnes & Noble during the holidays I haven’t acquired too many new books. My new bookshelf has given me so much more shelf space and hopefully with my 2020 reading challenges I can clear up even more shelf space!

Onto the book haul!

Bought

I chose these books essentially because they were books I thought I would like and were hyped up/recommended by most of my bookish peeps! So excited to read them all!

Stupid Love Comedy by Syusyusyu Sakurai – A comedy and love story about a mangaka and writer?! Sign me up!

Be Everything at Once by Dami Lee – I’m so glad I found this book at such a good deal! Lee’s daily comics on Instagram and Webtoon are comical and bring me much joy.

Pasta Wars by Elisa Lorello – I love books about food and this one caught me by the eye because it deals with competing chefs!

Most Likely to Succeed by Jennifer Echols – I always see this book floating around on social media so I wanted to give it a try!

Two of Hearts by Christina Lee – A fun looking romance novel I found at Dollar Tree.

Girl in the Blue Coat by Monica Hesse – I got this book a deal from a promo Barnes & Noble had going on their cafe so I got this book for $5. Historical fiction is my jam!

Fake it Till You Break It by Jenn Nguyen – I read Nguyen’s previous novel and really enjoyed so I decided to pick up this one.

Love from A to Z by S.K. Ali – A love story that takes place in an airport. How cute! I’ve heard lots of buzz about this book.

This Book is Overdue by Marilyn Johnson – I love books about books and this one focuses on librarians. I’m looking forward to reading this and learning more about the history of librarians.

The Translation of Love by Lynn Kutsukake – I’ve been seeking out more Japanese novels/novels set in Japan. I found this one at Dollar Tree!

Giveaway Wins

The Dragon Warrior by Katie Zhao – I love the cover art for this. I’m so glad I got to win this in a giveaway! I’m always intrigued by stories with dragons.

Gifted

Hillbilly by Eric Powell – I love graphic novels series and I’ve never heard of this series before but I’ve flipped through the books and the artwork is amazing! I’ll definitely have to review it for the blog.

The Rules to Break by Richard Templar & Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell – I’m adding more non-fiction to my shelves! Surprisingly I don’t own enough but these sound interesting and relevant.

I was ARCs/Review Copies

A Love Hate Thing by Whitney D. Grandinson – “When they’re stuck under one roof, the house may not be big enough for their hate…or their love.” Sounds like an enemies-to-lovers romance, which is my cup of tea!

To Have and to Hoax by Martha Waters – This one is a historical rom-com about, an estranged husband and wife in Regency England feign accidents and illness in an attempt to gain attention. Usually regency romance isn’t my jam, but I can’t wait to read this.

The Girls with No Names by Serena Burdick – I always enjoy historical fiction so I’m curious to learn about a new period in time.

The Honey-Don’t List by Christina Lauren – As you all know I’m a huge Christina Lauren fan. So I’m hoping this will one of their fun rom-coms that will love.

Horizontal Collaboration by Navie, Carole Maurel  – This was a graphic novel sent to me for review (review should be up shortly). It focuses romantic relationships that some French women had with members of the occupying German forces during World War II. It sounds different from most other books I’ve read.

The Unwilling by Kelly Braffett – What caught my eye about this e-galley was not only the cover art, but that it’s an historical (?) fantasy novel. It’s got the premise of the “chosen one” so it’s interesting.

That concludes my October through December book haul! What books did you buy this past months? What books have you recently added to your TBR? Tell me in the comment section below.
