September -December Book Haul: “So Many Books, So Little Time” Edition
Hi Everyone!
Back with another quarterly book haul! Since I don’t buy books as much anymore I think I’m going to keep doing book hauls this way. I’ve read so many good books in the fourth quarter and am trying to cut down on review copies so that I can read more of my own books. I didn’t meet my Goodreads goal at the end of the year, due to my busy schedule but I do have a plan to get back on track of reading for the first quarter of 2019. I’m a bit behind with posting reviews, so you’ll see still a bit of influx of reviews on the blog. I’m excited for 2019 will bring in books.
Now onto the book haul!
Bought
The Wangs vs.The World by Jade Chang – I found a bargain (Book of the Month) copy of this at a local store so I picked it up. I heard a little about it, so I’m intrigued.
Ms. Marvel Vol.4 by G. Willow Wilson – Adding to my collection of the series. I found this copy for $4!
ARCs/Review Copies
Well-Read Black Girl by Glory Edim – This book is a wonderful collection of essays by black women and I loved how personal each essay was and how the collection focuses on recognizing yourself in literature.
Couldn’t Ask For More by Kianna Alexander – A fun contemporary that follows the fake engagement story trope. It was predictable, but enjoyable.
A Wedding One Christmas by Therese Beharrie – This meet-cute novel is fun read for the holiday season. It was like a Hallmark movie in book form.
Unmarriageable by Sonia Kamal – I enjoy Pride & Prejudice retellings even though I don’t like the original novel, so I decided to request this from Netgalley. Review to come soon.
Pas De Deux: A Christmas Short – A very cozy and steamy novella that is perfect for the holidays. It was fun revisiting Zack and Mina’s story. Review to come soon.
Legacy of Danger by Jillian David – Another exciting installment for the Hell’s Valley series. These psychic cowboys/girls are ready to take on danger once again.
The Girls in The Picture by Melanie Benjamin – I love Historical Fiction so I couldn’t pass up on this opportunity to read a story about actresses in early Hollywood.
Gifted
You Are a Badass Everyday by Jen Sincero – Always looking for a motivational book, so I’m excited to delve into this one!
The Defining Decade: Why Your Twenties Matter–And How to Make the Most of Them Now by Meg Jay – Seems like an insightful read. I’m a twenty-something myself, so curious to read science surround that age range.
Fearless by Robb Armstrong – This book is written by the guy behind the award-winning comic strip, JumpStart. It’s a comic I loved reading as child when I read the newspaper comics. I’m always interested in reading books about artists/cartoonists so this should be good.
I participated in the annual TBTB (The Broke and Bookish) Secret Santa for the fifth year and my awesome Secret Santa Daphne hooked me up with my most anticipated reads!
A Duke by Default, A Princess in Theory, and A Hope Divided by Alyssa Cole
The Hundredth Queen by Emily R. King
Giveaway Wins
Mammoth by Jill Baguchinsky – This book has a good mixture of everything: science, coming of age themes, action, and romance. It fun to read a book about paleontology and body positivity.
The Good Neighbor: The Life and Work of Fred Rogers by Maxwell King – I still haven’t gotten a chance to read this, but I can’t wait! Mr. Rogers was a big part of my childhood, so I’m interested in learning more about him.
The Dangerous Duet by Karen Oddell – I was entertained by the heightened suspense aspect as I tried to solve the pieces of the mystery in this book. It had an ominous aura that added to the entertainment factor.
We Are Not Yet Equal: Understanding Our Racial Divide by Carol Anderson & Tonya Bolden – I think any reader will be able to educate information about civil rights history through reading this book. It’s a great resource and starting point for anyone who wants to research Civil Rights history and politics.
That concludes my September through December book haul! What books did you buy this past month? What books have you recently added to your TBR? Tell me in the comment section below.

I’ve been wanting to read The Wangs vs.The World since it came out, but the reviews are so mixed… I’ll be interested in hearing your thoughts once you read it!
Hopefully it will be good! 🙂
