Slice of Life: Getting Ready for RT Booklovers Convention 2015
Hello everyone! I’m excited to announce that I will be attending the 2015 RT Booklovers Convention in Dallas,TX! As the days get closer to the actual event, this is how I’ve been feeling…
This is my first exposure to a book convention as well as my first RT convention ever, but I have been to anime conventions before so I have a general idea of what I’m getting into. Convention are fun, but they are also very busy/hectic. There is always something to do whether it’s attending a panel, going to events, shopping, getting autographs, striking up conversations with others, and so much more! I also know I’ll have to bring my patience for those super long lines, keep myself hydrated and fed, and stay awake. Sleep is for the weak, my friends.
I’ve never been to Dallas before so I’m really excited to check out some of the local cuisine (aka eating lots and lots of tasty BBQ) and possibly visiting some famous museums and tourist sites. Another plus is the warm weather, because I know it can get pretty hot in Texas, even in late spring. I am also eager to meet fellow bloggers, readers, get some snazzy autographs by my favorite authors, and get some free swag to take back home.
Some of the panels/events I plan to attend (so far) are the Taste of Texas Romance Rodeo, YA: You’re Never Too Old, We Need Diverse Books’ panel, and some of the blogger panels as well. I plan to attend from Wednesday through Sunday so I’m still trying to figure out my game plan for the whole convention. But the event I’m most excited for is the Giant Book Fair on Saturday. I’m also going to TRY (key word, here) not to go crazy picking up every book in sight. But I can’t guarantee anything. That’s why I’ve been trying to put myself on such a strict book ban since the beginning of 2015.
I hope to see lots of you there! My final statement, or question is what advice do you have for a first time book con goer for RT convention or any other book convention you’ve attended? 🙂
