Top Ten Tuesday: Goals/Resolutions for 2015
Today’s “A Month of Favorites” post links up with Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke And The Bookish. For more info on how to participate in this weekly post or future topics click here.
Today I’ll be sharing my top 10 goals/resolutions for 2015! I’ll also be posting about what new reading challenges I’ll be participating in for 2015 later this week, so stay tuned!
Let’s get started!
1) Be Healthier/Get Fit
I know it’s a typical New Year’s resolution, but I know I really need to start eating healthier and get more in shape. Eating junk food is tough habit to break, but I know I can do it. If I can just cut back as a start, then that’s better than nothing. I’d also like to take Zumba classes again. They were so much fun in college, and I love that it didn’t feel like a workout, but rather a big dance party.
2) Read More!
I always want to read more books every year, because as I’ve gotten older it’s been harder to squeeze in prime reading time on a regular basis. I’m looking forward to participating in the same as well as new reading challenges and step out of the box as far as genres of books I usually read.
3) Travel
Maybe not all over the world, but small domestic trips in the US would be nice. I want to really start saving up so I can travel to Japan in the next year or too, whether its to study abroad or just travel through the country, I’m determined to start planning.
4) Study Japanese Faithfully and take the JLPT
I haven’t really studied much Japanese since my last class in Spring so my Japanese is kind of rusty now. I really want to become more proficient in the language so I’m going to study more and I plan to take the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) at the end of 2015. Maybe level N3 or N4? (If anybody has taken these exams, please advise me about the difficulties of these levels as well as how to study for the exam).
5) Turn blog into website?
I’ve really enjoyed book blogging since I started in 2013 and lately I’ve been thinking of changing the blog into a website. The format of the posts wouldn’t change, but just my blog. If not next year, maybe 2015.
6) Get a career related job
Since I’ve graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English, minor in Japanese, and TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) certificate there are many career paths I can take. Of course, my ultimate end goal is to work at publishing company, but for now I’d be satisfied to get a job in a somewhat related field.
7) Read more classics
Every year I say I’m going to read more classics, but to no avail I read 0 classics in 2014. Next year, I’m setting my goal to 5.
8) Save Money
Not that I’m horrible at saving money, but I could do better. One, I want to travel more. Two, I’ll have enough money for book hauls periodically.
9) Try a new hobby
I know this year I started to learn how to knit, so next year I’d like to learn how to perfect the craft and actually be able to knit a scarf or sweater.
10) Volunteer More
I really want to give back to the community so I’ve been looking at some of my favorite and new local volunteer organizations that I want to work with more often next year. 🙂
And those are my top 10 goals/resolutions for 2015! What are yours? Comment below or create your own post! Happy New Year!
I definitely aim to be both healthier and better at budgeting in the New Year! I also had read more classics on my list. Best of luck with your resolutions.
Thanks! And best of luck to your resolutions as well! Happy New Year!
