What Happens When You Finish A Book?
Hey everyone! Hope you’re having a good summer! So being an avid book reader, you’ve probably heard of a thing called the aftershock and/or the after effect. The aftershock is basically the personal feelings you go through when finish a really good book. This not only applies to books but TV, Movies, being involved with fandoms, etc. Let’s go through the five stages….
1) Shock
Now what? You’re in shock! The book is over. What are you going to do with your life now?
2) Denial
Okay, so maybe it’s not too bad now….I can find something else to read or/the next book in the series is coming out soon, isn’t it?
3) Anger
I can’t deal with this! Why did the authors do this me?! I can’t wait for the next book, I need to know what happens! You can’t end it like this! Not now!
4) Sadness
Now your anger has settled, and somewhere in a corner you sob dramatically. Why is this happening? I didn’t want the book to end. _____(insert any character) is dead! I just…*cries loudly *
5) Acceptance
I can do this! I can perverse! I can move on! Everything will be okay, and somewhere in that enormous book collection of yours you can find a novel amazing novel to satisfy your reading needs and help you to move on!
Remember these steps and you will be fine!

I completely agree with you on all of these phases. It’s especially hard to move on and accept an unsatisfying ending to your favorite series/trilogy.
It always is. I get so attached to the characters/story of a really good book. 🙂
I cracked up reading this!! 😀 I always have a hard time accepting a book I love is over. I always need at least a few days. Last week, for instance, I couldn’t start a new book because I was still bookhangover from the last one I finished… on Saturday! lol
I think it’s the same for everyone, lol. It’s so hard to cure a book hangover. 🙂
Simply brilliant!! Thank you for making me smile 🙂
Aww Thank you! Glad to make someone smile! 🙂
Smiling is always good! 😉
Great post! I have book hangovers as well, best term I heard sof far for this phenomenon ;). But… it’s a sign it was a good book so that is great!
Thank you, and book hangovers are always a good sign, lol! 🙂
