What I’m Listening To…Daydream Tunes
Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In this blog post series I’ll be sharing some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist of five songs.
For this month’s edition of “What I’m Listening To” I decided to feature some songs about dreaming, daydreaming, or that have a dream-like quality to the melody.
A Midsummer’s Night Dream – Brown Eyed Girls
This is a R&B slow jam that really showcases the sultry vocals of Brown Eyed Girls. It’s such a relaxing song and I love the MV. It’s a song about beautiful love story which happens in a midsummer night as its title name.
Dreams – Fleetwood Mac
Though this was written during a tumultuous time for the band, I live the hopeful message of the song’s lyrics. This is one of their more upbeat tracks that I like. I love Stevie’s vocals on this track.
Little Girl Dreams – Go Ara
I love this sweet ballad about growing up and dreaming for a better future. Go Ara has a lovely voice and this ballad. It’s a simple song, but I love lyrics!
Moonage Daydream – David Bowie
This is one of my favorite Bowie tracks. I love the groovy baseline in the melody and that feeling of traveling through Space through the songs lyrics. Such a good song!
Daydream – Lupe Fiasco feat. Jill Scott
I love the fusion of genres in this track. Its got a mixture of Jazz, R&B, and Hip-Hop. The part where Jill sings the hook just emphasizes the entire track. It’s also though provoking since the song’s lyrics are also a critique of pop culture.
