What I’m Listening To…Songs For Autumn
Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In this blog post series, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist of five songs.
This time around I’ve curated a list tailored for the autumn season that’s just around the corner. While these songs might not be about the season itself, it will definitely set the mood. I tried to stick with a calmer mix of music as nature walks in a bronze colored forest, pumpkin spice lattes, and Thanksgiving dinners come to mind when I think of fall. I hope you enjoy this musical playlist.
1) What You Won’t Do by Lianne La Havas
What You Won’t Do is a brassy, soulful track on Havas’ sophomore album Blood. The song is filled with elements of doo-wop and Jazz. The lyrics focus on turning the negative into the positive as she talks about the games she is not “forced to endure” during her relationship. Ever since I’ve heard her song Is Your Love Big Enough? I can’t get enough of her amazing vocals and R&B infused music. She is definitely a new artist to watch out for.
2) Autumn Leaves by Eva Cassidy
This cover of Autumn Leaves by Cassidy is the most beautiful rendition I’ve heard. It comes off of my top favorite album by her titled, Songbird. Cassidy one of the many singers who left us far too soon. She lost her battle with melanoma in 1996 and passed at the young age of 33. She is best known for her interpretations of jazz, blues, folk, gospel, country, rock and pop classics.
3) I Know You Know by Esperanza Spalding
I Know You Know is about a snazzy jazz track off of Esperanza’s second album Esperanza. Esperanza is an American jazz bassist, cellist and singer, who draws upon many genres in her music. This song among with many of Esperanza’s music is perfect for a calm autumn day. If you enjoy jazz, her music is for you.
4) Wait by Get Set Go
Wait is a mid-tempo track from indie rock/alternative band Get Set Go. You might recognize their music as they have been featured on several episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and both volumes of the series soundtrack. This song has upbeat sound and sounds like something I would hear in a coffee shop.
5) Eyo by Asa
Asa is a Nigerian French singer, songwriter, and recording artist. The track Eyo is featured on her album Bed of Stone. I love the happy piano melody in this song and how it features a distinct folk sound while managing to mix other genres in the music.
And that completes my list of songs to listen to during Autumn. I hope you enjoy this mini playlist! What songs do think are perfect for fall weather? Comment below with some suggestions. 🙂
