What I’m Listening To…Video Game OSTs
Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In my segment “What I’m Listening To” I share some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist consisting of five tracks.
This month’s playlist is some of my favorite video game tracks! I’m more of a casual gamer, but I love all of the graphics, characters, and stories of the games I play. Most of all I am very impressed with OSTs that immerse me into the game’s world. Here are some of my favorites.
1) To Zanarkland – Final Fantasy 10
A beautiful piano track from Uematsu Nobuo which is soothing, but a bit melancholy as well. Uematsu is a legedary video composer and I love the piano melody in this track. It’s one of my favorite background working tracks.
2) Clip Joint Calamity – Cuphead OST
There is something this soundtrack that entices me. For Cuphead it’s vintage cartoon style and 1930s/40s music. It reminds me of watching old school cartoons with its vivid sounds. I also like that the soundtrack is so jazzy!
3) Simple and Clean – Kingdom Hearts
Not only is this track one of my all-time favorite Utada tracks, but it’s also one of my favorite Kingdom Hearts songs. It mirrors the tone of the game and this remix gives you a beat you can dance to.
4) Seekers Note: Hidden Mystery
Not sure what the song title is, but I love the OST for this hidden-puzzle game. It’s got an enchanting feeling to it along with an overall soothing sound. If you like mystery puzzle games, I recommend this one!
5) Game Over (Lofi Mix) -Super Mario World
Music from the Super Mario games makes me nostalgic since I played the games a lot as a kid. I love Lofi mixes and this remix is easy listening while keeping the lively vibe of the games.
