What I’m Listening To…Halloween Edition 2021

Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In this blog post series, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist of five songs.

For this month’s edition of “What I’m Listening To” I decided to supply you with some spooky tunes for Halloween! This time around I chose some songs made for Halloween or have a supernatural theme to it. Enjoy!

Addams Grove by MC Hammer

If you grew up with the 90s Addams Family movies then this song will bring up nostalgia. It’s campy, fun, and a good song to dance to. I miss the days of cheesy Halloween rap songs from my youth. It’s a good Halloween party track that is sure to get your guests on the dance floor.

Calling all The Monsters by Thrii – ft Messenger

This song is an updated version of the track that was originally released in 2011. The original is still my favorite but I’m so happy the song and music video got a complete glow up! This time Chinas’ sisters and brother are included on the track too and it gives even more depth to an awesome bop. This song is a Halloween banger.

Dancing in the Dark (Put Your Head on my Shoulder by Rexxxxx

This song is a darker remix of a 50s classic track. It’s spooky, eerie, and the perfect background track for the Halloween season. I usually add this track to my lo-fi-based mixes when I’m looking to get into the Halloween spirit but need to concentrate on work while I listen to music.

Scream by Dreamcatcher

Dreamcatcher always puts out amazing tracks and much of their discography is great for Spook season listening. Scream is a powerful high-tempo track with the K-rock sound that fans know and love. The eerie imagery and dark scenery in the MV is very fitting for October.

Skeleton in the Closet by Louis Armstrong

My last pick on the playlist is a vintage Halloween track about a haunted house story. I adore Armstrong and the stories he tells in his songs. You can really feel how he acts out the story in the song while he sings along to this jazzy tune. It’s entertaining and captures the essence of Halloween!

And that concludes my Halloween playlist! What songs do you recommend? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. What fun! And I’m with you on the idea of simultaneously preferring an original (sometimes, anyway) and still, at the same time, being glad that it’s gotten a fresh polish. So often it can be both/and instead of either/or! If I think of a good scary fave, I’ll come back and add it!

    1. Yeah, I agree. It’s hard to compare both the original and the new version because they have different aspects that make them very unique. I like them both for different reasons.
