Wonderful Writers: Jeaniene Frost
Hi All! Wonderful Writers is a weekly segment that comes out every Wednesday! Every week I spotlight and discuss one of my favorite authors, books by them, and talk about their writing styles and such. I hope you’ll enjoy. Feel free to participate as well by writing your own post and as always you are welcome to use the meme/pic if you’d like (just remember to credit me).
About: Frost is an American fantasy author, known for her writing the bestselling Night Huntress series and the Night Huntress World novel. The Night Huntress series takes place in a world where supernatural creatures exist but are not known to the general public at large. The series is centered around the main protagonist Catherine “Cat” Crawfield who is a half-vampire.
What I’ve Read (So Far):
- Night Huntress Series #1-4
- Night Huntress World Series
Why She’s A Wonderful Writer:
I’ve gushed about Frost’s Night Huntress series quite a lot on this blog. This series/book universe has got a bit of everything: romance, action, and suspense, and much more. Frost takes a lot of time into putting detail to create these amazing and lovable characters as well as villains you love to hate. I also enjoy the concept of getting a glance at the supernatural ” underground” that exists in our world. It gives readers a different perspective on how the world runs, since regular people don’t know vampires exist.
One of the main reasons I cherish this series besides the excellent detail to world building and character development is the main protagonist Cat. Cat is amazing woman who not only has kick-butt fighting skills, but is also confident and very smart. She (from what I’ve read so far) evolves so much throughout each book and I liked that she eventually learns to accept her true nature and cast aside the negative connotations of being half-vampire, half-human.
